I have mixed feelings about the whole personalized plate deal... however, I did submit an application a while back, but all my suggestions were either taken or too offensive in PA. I don't see much point, though, in voting on your "personalized" plate. Pick something that represents your own style and go with it.
I did my personalized one because I got a Barber Motorsports tag, which I wanted, and the personalization is included in the normal cost (5 characters).
New Hampshire is cool - no worry about an "application" to see if what you want is available. Right on the DMV website you can plug them in and see if they are available. There's hardly any difference in cost for the personalized plates also. Heck, i even have my initials on the car trailer plate.......

Me too...but as I recall...when I ordered my Barber tag, the clerk said "what numbers/letters do want on the tag?". I said, "I don't care, whatever it comes with". She said "it doesn't come with anything, you have to pick something." Soooo, I figured since I was getting (2) of them, I'd go with something simple...my initials are ARS...
