Default British and European Car Show

Hi All,

Just spent the day out at the British and European car show in Williamsburg, VA. As a new Porsche owner and having never been to a sports car show before I wasn't sure what to expect. It turned out to be lots of fun and I got to meet a lot of Porsche guys from the Mid Atlantic area of the US.

There were about 130 or so cars entered in 25 classes and about 25 Ferrari's in a separate event. Even though there were lots of Porsche guys around only 4 911's were entered for judging in my class.

Here are some shots of cars I really liked...

The back side of a new 997 Turbo. This car is a beautiful specimen although the owner is more of a Ferrari guy. Beautiful car!

This 1969 Ferrari 365 GTC in Powder Blue was my favorite of the whole day

If new and fast is your thing the new Ferrari F340 is tough to beat

An engine shot from the F340

The Porsche class from the event -- That's my red 993 in the front of the line

All in all, a good day. Good to see the Porsche guys out there!

The 365 GTC is also my favorite of all Ferraris (and of all cars.) It's an incredibly beautiful and understated design. I almost bought one 10 years ago.

Hi Guys,

I was looking at the red Ferrari in my posting and something doesn't add up. it says F340 on the window sticker but that must be a typo by the Ferraris and Vines people. The car is a 2008 F430 Scuderia.

P.S. I have a bunch more Ferrari pictures from the show if anybody's interested.

As a matter of interest how much does a good 365 go for in the US?

Close to 300K plus now for a pristine 68-69 GTC. Much less for a GT 2+2 (150k plus) and the later GTC/4. The California and the GTS are pretty rare and $$$.

What would a Black with Tan interior 1969 Ferrari 365GT 2+2 with 15,000 on it command?

What is this one? I saw it at Homestead a few years ago and thought it was a 365?

GT2+2 is forgettable. If you want a collector Fazzazz, it must be a V12 TWO seater. Anything else is referred to as a whale amongst aficianados... FWIW

Is a 365 Gt 2+2... worth peanuts... in Ferrari terms!

Still pretty though but my analysis .... gorgeous, fabulous, did I say gorgeous V12??? BUT agricultural transmission, cooling system will not cool or heat... clutch is Herculean and so are the brakes.

Not a DD! My "hard as nails" Rs was a woos in comp.....

2+2s are still nice, but you are quite right. And very few GTCs built. The GTC I looked at (at Symbolic Motors in La Jolla) was drop dead gorgeous. And yes, not very comfortable to drive. I would have needed to go to the gym and work out for a few months, or get worn out driving it.

That said, I also realized at the time that this car was not for driving. It's a lot of money to stick in the garage.

And of course now that money has been reduced by the stock market (and me trying to be 'sensible.') Hah. That same money could have remained intact (and even grown) sitting in the garage.

Canyon, This is amazing. I also looked at the very same car during a trip to CAL. Weird but interesting.

Wow, small world indeed. I tracked that chassis number for a while. Symbolic auctioned it at Monterey and it went to a San Francisco lawyer who bought three other Ferraris in a package (a GTB, a Lusso, and a Daytona.) He then sold the GTC to a friend of his in San Mateo. It was later sold by Michael Sheehan for $195,000 a year or two ago. I don't know where it went after that.

Bruce Trenery in Emeryville CA has probably consigned and sold most of the 365 GTCs in the US (or so it seems.) He has a pretty amazing inventory of stuff.

There's a concours condition one on consignment at Motorcars of Las Vegas that they've got on eBay right now (20 hrs left and no bids.) They only have a 83% positive eBay seller rating, but the actual owner of the car is for real (a Las Vegas resident.) The car is very nice and has won many entries. He wants a good chunk of money for it.....

Hello Canyon,

In tracking down 365 GTC's I looked at the 330 GTC also. Wonderful to look at.. and given the prices then, either of the types would have been a good collector from the money standpoint. When I was looking, prices were from USD 75K to about 100K. Except in Switzerland where they thought they had a monopoly... their watch prices are also skewed...

But look at the prices now!

Regardless, I made more moolah on the "market" rather than owning an impossible to drive Fazzazz. Sure pretty cars though.
