Default Easy Leatherique query

I've done as much searching as I care to do, so I'll throw this one out for the experts. Is there any issue applying the Oil twice before doing the first Cleaning?

I applied the oil today and thought it might help to slap some more on tonight before rolling the junker out into the sun tomorrow.

That's how I did it. The first coat was put on in the morning and allowed to bake in the sun, the second coat was worked in later in the afternoon once the first coat had dried to a haze. My seats are the standard variety (not supple) and so the results were just ok...I would imagine you'll have a better result with supple leather seats, assuming they're not coated.

Jason,
Thanks. I read enough positive press on here regarding Leatherique that I figured it was time to follow the masses.

I do have supple leather on all four seats and am hoping for a positive outcome. In the past, I used Lexol but felt that the seats quickly looked 'dry' again.

I think leatherique even suggests multiple coats if the original coat is absorbed. I've done multiple coats (left one overnight) and had great results--even with the standard (non supple) seats.

i do two oil coats the first time I do a car, then bake, then the cleaner treatment. You may it necessary to do another cleaner treatment in a couple months, as the residual oil continues to pull contaminants out of places here and there, like creases.

I did 2 coats the first time, now every 6 months I do one coat, then throw dry cleaning bags over the seatback and bottom cushion for a couple days before using the cleaner. I'm sure people think I'm nuts driving around for a couple days (including park time in the sun) with baggies on my seats.....

FWIW, I like to apply a light treatment of the Rejuvenator Oil every few months. The leather never seems to quit taking it and there's certainly no harm done. Unless you bought your car new, it's doubtful the leather ever got proper care before.

+1 on the baggies for a day or two; and several applications.

Guys, be careful with the dry cleaning bags. If there is print on the bags, it will transfer onto your seats. Ask me how I know (learned on one of my previous 993s).

Andreas:

More the better, let it soak in and then do the cleaner. I usually leave the oil on for 3 weeks then clean.

PJ. Thanks for the tips re: the bags for anyone who doesn't know about the printing, mine are never printed.

Rich,
Thanks for the hint. I just gave it a second, thorough application. It sure looks nice in there at the moment.

Any thoughts on the cleaner step?

Andreas:

Leave it on for awhile and then put the cleaner on a cotton cloth (I use an old t-shirt) when dry, buff it with another clean cotton cloth.

Is my aim to wipe away any residual oil with the cleaner? I presume so...
