Default Oil cooler fan switch

Hea guys, Well I finaly go around to doing the oil cooler fan switch mod. I want to put a factory type switch in the blank in the center console. Does any one have a part number of a switch I can use? Thanks in advance. Mike

I'll give you a little trick. Take the right headlight out, you will see a connector on the oil temp sender. I cut the rubber off of the wire and found the black with blue stripe wire and cut it. Run two wires from each end of the cut wire into the car and put a switch on those wires. Now, there is a delay when you flip the switch on of about 3-5 seconds and than the fan comes on. Also the key has to be in the on position. The gromett to snake the wire in, is just in front of the fuse box down in that well. Take a look under the glove box behind and you will see the other end of the gromett. Happy cooling !!!

Barney,

Seems easy enough, one question, is the auto feature disabled after you make this mod (meaning will I have to turn it on all the time). Thanks!

No, when the switch is in the off position it's just like it was..it seems when you flip the switch to on all you are doing is fooling the CCU to think its hotter than it is... (IE) temp switch at it's max to turn the fan on high...

I think I'm missing something here. If a wire is cut and a switch spliced in it seems like SOMETHING is going to not work unless the switch is on. Does the fan still run at both high and low speeds when the switch is off? Unless I am misunderstanding how this is wired I'm guessing one speed or the other is now dependant on the switch.

How I see it, you have two wires going to the temp sensor, I cut one of the wires (black/blue stripe) and the fan goes on high. So I put the switch between the cut wires to mimick the wire being put back together... It works just fine. I think the switch is OFF to make the fan go onto high ( like cutting the wire) When the switch is ON the wires are like they were back together...That makes more sense...

Did the exact same thing. I thought you had to dremmel it down a bit to get it fit. Works great.

Did you take any pics of the switch? If I recall, there are two narrower switches and one wider in the center console piece.
