Default First Stop: Tuscon, AZ

Anybody live in or near Tuscon? This will be our first stop in bringing my 993 home. Would love some advice on great places to eat, local attractions, and maybe even meet a few listers. I will be posting up all of our stops so as to get the chance to meet some folks.

can't speak to restaurants as I haven't been there in awhile but do not miss the desert museum there. its more than a building - it is out in the desert with lots of live animal displays, etc. very worthwhile! now's a good time to go before its 110 F

James . . . providing that my new tires make it down here tomorrow, we would be in AZ Saturday afternoon or evening and part if not all of Sunday. Our next stop after that will likely be either in far east NM or west TX. I have three favorite foods: Italian, Chinese, and Mexican. But I eat lots of stuff. John loves a good steakhouse. Nothing too fancy as I didn't bring a little black dress along for this trip.

You should find some real Tex-Mex while in TX! I ate some great food in central Tx.

Give me a little bit of time to think of restaurant recommendations... but if you want to give your car a tune up, the southern arizona region is having a DE style Autocross on Sunday the 19th up at Pinal Air Park (check out http://saz.pca.org/ once the national site is back up). The track is tough on tires, but I'd be a great chance to meet lots of porsche people, and blow some of the carbon deposits out of your motor.

That would be fun, James, but I'm getting new tires tomorrow, lol. Plus, my helmet is at home and I don't like wearing someone else's -- that's just a little too personal for me, lol. But maybe I'll stop in and watch, at least. Depends on how things are going schedule-wise.

Once you get south East of Tucson watch your speed their is a DPS training area around and past the Bisbee turn off. They will give tickets for 3 or 4 mph over the speed limit. You have a PM also

Pima Air Museum? Was wandering around there one time and I basically tripped over the shell of an ICBM. At least I presumed it was just a shell! Other highlights I remember are the SR-71 and a B-25 from Doolittle's Tokyo raid (or replica of).

You know me, Ken, the air museum is a must-see for us. My poor car is dirty already! That's what stinks about being away from home -- you can't baby your baby. It still looks great, though. I already heard someone say, "That's a nice Porsche."

Hey everybody . . . update -- we will be driving to Tuscon on Sunday morning. We'll be there late afternoon or early evening. We will likely stay Monday to take in some sites and do a little driving. Then Tuesday we'll shoot for at least the NM-TX border.
