Congrats on a really nice 993. Look forward to reading about (and seeing pictures of!) your trek home.

Bonni, not sure what you arranged with the seller prior, but it's a risky thing to fly in befor PPI is done. What if he simply said no to whatever ills PPI could have found?

I'm glad that it worked out well, but just a cotionary warning to others buying long distance.

The car seems very nice - lowered and with Sport seast. Just for a data point - what are the vitals and the final price if you don't mind me asking?

I understand your concern, Mike. I have plenty of frequent flyer miles, so I was not worried about that part. What 'vitals' were you looking for? Final price was $24k.

A price of $24k for a lowered car with good PPI and sport seats sound like a great deal.

Mike was probably asking about mileage and mod details.

Don't have mod details fully, as those details are in the records file that I will be getting back from the shop today. I do know it has Eibach springs and Bilstein shocks. The PPI was not perfect, but I can live with it. Might have to get a valve job done at some point. That's why the price came down. It has just under 78k on the clock. I'll get the list of mods to you all later on today or maybe tomorrow.

78k isn't a ton of miles. Valve jobs are crazy expensive on these, which I assume you know, and I am scared of them. How do you know you might need one? Shouldn't be getting a check engine light on a 95, so it would be determined by oil consumtion or a "wiggle test" on the valves. My dealer gave me a 3rd party warranty that is supposed to cover a valve job if needed - maybe I will never find out, because I doubt that will go smoothly.

Bilstein & Eibachs are a pretty good combo.

Looks like a nice color, as well.

Bart . . . the compression was low on the #5 is why I might be looking at a valve job. Sometimes tiny bits of carbon get lodged in there, so it may very well work its way loose. I will do another leak down and compression check once I get home. You seem to be from around the same part of the world -- know of any PCA contacts or independent shops?

Time for a tuneup, Italian style! Should be a few opportunities on your way home.

Hey Bart . . . I went to the shrimp festival a couple of years ago in Gulf Shores. Of course I've been to Foley -- those outlet stores aren't as great as the paper touts them to be, lol. I've also been up to Dothan for an autocross a while back. We were thinking of doing a Deal's Gap run -- wanna join us?

Sounds like fun. I have a classroom section for an upcoming DE Sat. When would you be doing it?

I just had my SAI ports flushed, which is cheaper than a full top end. you might want to try that path first. The valve was rusted shut, so that was replaced. I don't have many miles one it since then as I was on vacation for spring break, but with new plugs, and rear tires, she is running great.

looks like you got factory sport seats too! NICE!

Bonni, that sounds like a fun trip and 10 times more fun if coming back with the car Way to go!

I was curious about mileage, major options and what suspension is in the car now. Has clutch been done? What condition is it in.

I think i might just have realized something. Dark blue car on the West coast with sport seats. Isn't that a Rennlister car? Though I think that one was in Seattle.
