I bet it installs in the dash perfectly. It did on my 964 although it needed a harness made to make it plug in. This guy made the harness for me, great work and very knowledgeable:

Unless it has a modified display, it will be very difficult to read, the view angle is hard coded for the 996/986 location in the dash. I tried it, and subsequently switched to a 210 which has no such problem (was original in last 993's). Becker US, I believe will make the mod for something like $100. I agree that these radios look good in the 993, and in my opinion also sound pretty OK.

The 220 is a definite uptick in sound quality from the 210. The physical fit is drop in (once you remove the metal cage that the 210 sits in) and the unit is plug and play on the '96 and later cars without the digital sound. Earlier cars sometimes need a new wiring harness and cars with DSP will need an easy wiring mod to get the amp to power up. All these installation instructions are well covered here (if you can find them). Madridcab is right about the display but you may be able to find a 220 that already has the mod for the 993 or you can buy a refurbished unit from Becker with it already installed which is what I did. The unit works fine with the wrong faceplate, you just can't read it without putting your head on the passenger seat.

+993 on what everybody previously said. Better radio, fits perfect, $100 faceplate revision via Becker USA necessary. Bonus....iPod connection!
