Default My New Rotary Lift - With Pics!!!!

Hey Everybody,

My dream of having a real mechanic's lift is now a reality. And holding out for a home with a 10ft garage ceiling (in the Bay area, no less) has finally paid off (I drove my wife crazy during our home search). The lift is a Rotary SPOA7LC and it lifts the car high enough so I can actually stand upright under the 993 (and 325is). And yes, having a lift is everything I thought it would be - and more

Cheers,
Joe

Very nice!. It's also nice to know that 10 foot works. I pushed my new garage to 11' to allow for a 4 poster although I'm still not 100% on that yet.

Does the lift have upper reach limits that you can set so you don't squash your car?

Yes. Having seen some people put their car into the ceiling, I wanted to ensure I got a model with an overhead bar. Under the bar is a foam protected length of steel which triggers a switch which stops the lift if the car hits it. As a bonus, the overhead bar contains all of the hydraulic lines so you have a completely flat floor under the car.

Cheers,
Joe

Very nice! When we went garage (uhh, house) hunting, we wanted space and ceiling height. Got the space (6 cars EZ, 7 in a pinch) but 8-1/2 ft. ht. I am so sick and tired of floor jacks and jackstands!

How much does something like that cost? I am building a garage and I have the space, I made sure I had enough room incase I ever wanted to do something like that. You can pm me if you dont want it to be public.

I believe mine is the 9,000lbs. version of the same Rotary . I have had it for about 7 or 8 years and its a real workhorse. Good luck and be safe under there.........
