PPI near Columbia Sc
Hello, I am not exactly new here but I have not been very active on the forum. I have been reading about/lusting after 993's for some time now and think I may have found a good one. Does anyone know of a good place to have a ppi done near Columbia, Sc.?
Thanks in advance, Fiz

Doc's
I've used Doc's Garrage for my maintenance stuff (wheel bearings, clutches, sinchros, valve jobs, etc.) for over 18 years on both my old Carrera and my 993. I've never had a problem. The lead mechanic, Les Stabler, is a Porsche guy, and knows his stuff. He's really conservative about gettting things right, and stands behind his work.
By the way the other poster is correct, Doc's is really the only game in town. The shop has gone through several changes in ownership over the years, but they are still the only real P-car place in Columbia.
PM me for other thoughts.

I've known George and Ian for some time now and Les had done some minor stuff for me on my 968 during the short stint I had it in SC. Great guys.
Ed, it's been a while but I know George was considering selling at one point. Does he still own Doc's?

Kramermic:
George sold the shop several years ago to a young guy named Troy. I was very apprehensive when I heard George was selling, but it turns out that Troy is a great guy -- not to mention a really accomplished mechanic. Too boot, Les and Gerald are still there.
I don't think the shop's service has fallen off at all, and they remain very active in PCA Carolinas events. Hell I think Troy had the whole lot of them at the Parade in Charlotte last year -- teching cars all week. Now that's dedication.
