Default She is Gone...

My car left on Friday evening. The new owner will post some pics from his road trip back to Illinois!
I received periodic updates from his road trip. His face hurt from smiling too much, which made me really happy.
In a weird way, I am thrilled that my old car is in great hands and is being appreciated.

I will be cleaning the garage in the near future and will have lots of goodies for sale (RUF dead pedal, perfect mufflers, guards red standard tail etc, etc).

Hope you come back to the fold soon. I've been back and forth on this for awhile now and even posted a preliminary thread last year, but mine's probably going on the block soon too. I'll hate to see her go.

I hope he made it OK, supposedly it's snowing in IL today.

Ron, we hope to see you back soon! And... happy Passover!

Its a sad day
At least it went to a good owner it sounds like. Hopefully he will join and can participate, even if only half as much as you did Ron.

Nice that it's still being taken care of and appreciated all over again.

btw, I'll buy the RUF dead pedal from you. And I'll appreciate it, too!

Kind of sorry to see that car go, but I am sure the new owner will be very, very happy.

Look forward to seeing your next ride when you get it. Hope that isn't too long, either.

Best of luck!!!

The new owner, who is a member, made it fine. Drove 1500 happy miles and LOVES the car.
Yes I will be back in the fold sooner rather than later.
Justin, let me know if you need help with those upper gaskets
Canyon, PM me if you are serious about the RUF dead pedal. I will send you pics and price.
Take care.

Sorry to see her go...I was hoping you'd put that rear turbo spoiler up for sale some day. Best of luck!

I still have a grin today! There was never a point in the journey that I was ready to be out of the car. Drove about 900 miles the first day, then the remainder the next.

Overall impressions:

Ron is a great guy and took extremely good care of the car. It is in even better condition than I anticipated.

I had an extra quart of oil for the trip home, but still haven't added anything. There is no difference to the level from when I left to got home (at least that I can notice). Also no drips on the garage floor.

The ride was very comfortable for the journey, even with the dropped suspension (which looks and handles great).

Weather was warm and sunny for the first part of the trip, then turned to rain in Georgia. When I left Kentucky Monday morning, this was a cold rain, and there was actually snow on the sides of the expressway north of Indianapolis. Happily this didn't present any problems.

Downside is I need to replace the rear tires (just ordered this morning and they will be in tomorrow) because I now have a slit in the sidewall of the driver's side rear. No problems, but the kids will complain when I don't pick them up from school in the car tonight. My 5 year old is already calling dibs on it when he is old enough to drive.

Thanks for everything Ron, it was a pleasure to meet you and your son. I got a few pictures on the way home that I will get up later tonight.

Brian
So glad all went well. It was a pleasure meeting you as well! Sorry to hear about the rear tires. Is the slit down to the sidewall or just cosmetic?
I cannot wait to see the pics and I want to officially welcome you to the 993 Forum!
Now remember that you have to post pics!

Unfortunately it is a slit in the sidewall. Luckily it didn't blow out (will get a pic of that too).

Congrats Brian! I never saw Ron's car in person, but it's a near twin to mine, only with a few of the mods that have been on my to-do list. Enjoy her and welcome!!!

Thanks Patrick! I have been passively searching (and lurking) for the right 993 for about a year now, and am not disappointed. IMHO the lines are just right, and I love the size/feel.
