Best way to access the forum?

I'm new to this forum, and, actually new to the forum format. I'm familiar with email lists in which I receive individual emails in my inbox.
To access this forum it appears to take several steps. Is there a shortcut? Secondly, how do you know when someone has added a comment to a thread that might be several days old?
I'm just curious as to how others set up and use the forum in the best way.
Thanks,
Don

Don:
Welcome.
I have the 993 site bookmarked, and usually check it first for fresh posts.
Then I do a search under my username to see if there are updates on threads I have posted to. I will scan a few pages of most recent post times to see if there are updates.
If I've got nothing better to do, I hit new posts and see what is going on, on the entire board.
If there is an old thread, that I haven't posted to, that I'm tracking, I have to remember a unique word in that thread to pull it up under search. I can usually remember one. Occasionally, I'll pull that thread up by doing a search under the name of a member who I know has posted to that thread.

Here's how I keep track of when someone has posted to a thread that I've either posted to or subscribed to. Click on User CP (user control panel), scroll down to Edit Options, and scroll down to the second box, Messaging and Notification. Under Default Thread Subscription Mode you have a couple different options for thread notification. I have mine set to Instant Email Notification but you can do daily and weekly also.
Once you have that set up, if you are interested in following a thread, but don't necessarily want to post in it, you can manually subscribe for updates by clicking on Thread Tools at the top of the thread and chose to subscribe to it.
Taking it a step further, I use Outlook Express for my email, and have a folder set up called Rennlist. I use a message filter to automatically move any email updates I get from this site in to that folder.
Good luck and welcome to the forum, it's a great place.
