Default Replacing Headlight lens

Hey guys,
Got a rock ding in my passenger headlight lens. When I replace it, do I need to replace the gasket? Any tricks to know about? Who's a good source for these?
Thanks,
JP

I haven't used them but others on here have. The price is not too bad. Someone else will need to chime in but I think you can reuse the gasket. Autohausaz.com

JP
See the link below - lenses are under $60 each, and are ridiculously easy to replace (The lens and gasket are all one piece) I bought two, got free shipping and replaced both. well worth it.

+1 on Autohaus. Very inexpensive and easy to replace to boot. I'd do both at the same time. The yellow plastic at the bottom of the lens tends to yellow from UV exposure and you'll be able to see a difference if you just replace one.

From what I remember, when I ordered mine I looked them up on the web and called the 800 number. The price quoted over the phone was double the price on their web site for some reason. I ordered over the web.

Question to the group: how robust are these lenses against rock chips?

I'm thinking of removing the protector film that's on mine, which the previous owner put on for DE days.

Thanks guys. I'll check out Autohaus, they sound like the place. +1 on the protective film question, is it worth it?

Placed my order with Autohaus, $119.98 out the door, no tax, no shipping, SWEET! Pelican has 20 mil 8"x20" protective film for $39 or a pre-cut 4 piece kit of 80 mil material for Headlights/Foglights for $68.95. Both seem expensive to me for what you're getting. The kit is the price of a new lens...
Has anyone bought/used these? Seems like you should be able to get some 80 mil film and just cut your own.

JP - I made the same calculation. I figured at $57, I could replace the lens as necessary.

It's surprising how inexpensive those replacement lenses are. Unless you managed to get in on the group buy you would pay more for a Porsche hood ornament...

At one time, Xpel headlight protection film came with a $1000 warranty against damage while their film was installed. A 'nice to have' when you had Litronics or BiXenons.
IIRC, they are no longer offering this warranty and the cost of the Xpel precut film kit is about the same as a new lens.....

I just replaced mine when I had my front end resprayed. Stupid easy DIY. My clearbra guy could have put some film on my new lens, but like others have said.....why when Autohaus sells them so cheap.

And they are true Bosch products in factory sealed Bosch boxes.

This would be a good time to replace the headlight bulb as well - What is the brightest replacement bulb that works well without going to an aftermarket HID??
