You could have the old one back but then the entire site would be down. An 'undocumented" feature of the VB search engine is that when the database gets over 6 million posts search crashes the server.
I'm still withholding my membership dues until IB gets off their lazy incompetent asses and fixes our search engine. It's been a few weeks now, and know what? I don't really miss the "member" title.
Being a Member meant something when John & Jenn ran the place. It means nothing now besides saying you don't mind wasting money.
The problem with using quote marks in searches is that the words you put in quotes have to exactly match the title of the thread you're searching for. The odds of this happening are slim. And once you add a word to your search that isn't in quotes, all bets are off -- you end up getting the standard, "gee, this looks just like the main page of the 993 forum!" search returns.
What I've found is that if you're searching for something really, really simple, like "steering rack" you're all set. But if you're looking for something specific, it might take a dozen attempts, or 10 minutes of clicking through page after page of the forum to find what you're looking for.

+993.
Don't know when mine expires, but when it does, I'll be back to a "super user" unless I see some changes for the better around here.
I guess we shouldn't feel too bad, at least we can get to our search page. I just tried the search engine over at AudiWorld (another IB site) and the link to the page is currently broken:

Lol, I use AW too, and IB's antics there have been bizarre. Short story for those who don't know: IB just converted the forum to vbulletin (like Rennlist), which is a totally different layout style for AW. Within hours, thousands of users left and started a new forum, Quattroworld. More about it here. After a week or so, AW caved and created a layout option like the old way. Dunno if users went back or not.
So I'm looking for "cruise control problem" to find out why mine isn't working...I get CRAP! Everything under the Sun but anything remotely associated with "cruise control". The so-called Search Function on this forum is worthless!
It is too bad that Big Business takes over a 'good' thing and then screws it up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IB, FIX THIS NOW or you will be lossing your paying customers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Renewal, I don't think so...
If enough subscribers send emails to the Rennlist Contact to complain about this and state no renewal till fixed, we just might get their attention!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure they know...but I really think that they just don't care.
WTF is going on with this? Why is something that used to work not working? Quit playing with this very important tool and get it back to where we used to be! C'mon, everybody...Join in for a group rant!
ok, this is kind-of-a-joke, but this is a posting that Adrian made a few weeks ago when the search function was down hard. remember joke filter is ON!
This appeared at the top of the forums listing start page.
Is this what they call a Freudian slip?
ooooooohhh while typing this, i noticed that they have auto-spell checker enabled.
i LIKE that.
BRAVO!.
