Thumbs up A true Flachbau.......

I think a lot of us had a poster of this car at sometime in our lives (I know MarkD still does). The 930 Flachbau (slant nose). I know this was a car that I used to dream about in the 80s!
Well, I had the pleasure of having one come to the shop....and yes, it's the real deal (M505), not an aftermarket conversion. Not only did I get to wrench on this beauty, but I got to drive it as well. The sound of this machine absolutely matches it's look......very cool! And when that single turbo kicks in, she's all business. Downshift and the waste gate pop...pop...pop is totally sweet. Without the luxury of power steering, the road feel of this car is awesome. I would love to add one these to my stable someday.....it is a blast to drive!
A special thanks to Chuck Jones for this (possibly) once in a lifetime experience.

Cool stuff. Anyone remember the B+B flatnose Porsches in the '80's?

Nice! Red piping FTW! Keep selling those Cactus Rods and you might be able to add one to the stable.....

Nice! I have a poster of that car in my garage. It is parked in front of an office building at night. The office has only one light on. I often thought, "Keep working hard, and it will be your reward."

One point of clarification:

Isn't that know as a "slantnose", as opposed to the uner-rare "Flachbau", which is seen here: www.flachbau.com

I think slantnose and flachbau are synonymous. I am certainly no expert, but this is the info I found....

Porsche offered a "Flachbau" ("slantnose") 930 under the "Sonderwunschprogramm" (special order) program beginning in 1981, an otherwise normal 930 with a 935-style slantnose instead of the normal 911 front end. Each Flachbau unit was handcrafted by remodeling the front fenders. So few were built that the slantnose units often commanded a high premium over sticker, adding to the fact that they required a premium of up to 60 per cent (highly indivdualized cars even more) over the standard price. Several sources claim the factory built 948 units. The Flachbau units delivered in Europe usually featured the 330 hp performance kit.

Yeah...Flachbau means flatnose in german...but for some reason I always understood the german name to apply to the '94's with the visible headlights, as opposed to the others which I've always heard referred to as slantnoses.

I'm sure in germany both are called "flachbau" LOL

Nice pics...
