Default PSS10 Rear Drop Link Install Question

I'm hoping someone who has been through this before can point me in the right direction and save me some time. I just spent hours getting the ride height set and 118 rear/136 front +/-2mm and it looks real good. That said, I left the rear drop link mounts in the stock position and now the H&R sways touch the toe links (???). As I see it I have 3 choices which mostly involve pulling the shocks off of the car again.

A) Thread the drop link mounts up 1/2". The Bilstein instructions don't give a range for setting the drop link mount height so I'm wondering if there is a problem with doing this (geometry?)

B) Order some adjustable drop link components and just make shorter links. This is pretty cheap and I might get away without changing the drop link mount position.

C) Do A and B

C) Order RS drop links. I haven't found a price yet so I'm not sure on this one plus they are not adjustable.

Any advice would be appreciated as I only want to r&r these shocks once more.
Thanks, Matt

ps does anybody know what a safe min. clearance would be (loaded)?

If you decide to get RS drop links I would direct you to call Sunset Porsche, they have them to your door 40% cheaper and 90% faster than anyone else. Amazing those guys.... (Just got a set myself last week.)

I would go the route that Porsche designed for lowered cars: get the RS droplinks and route them below the arm like it was designed to be. Your other options seem to be second best compromises.

A. You will have to try and see that you have clearance with the 1/2" movement. B, could work if you got the correct parts which no one makes (you would need to make them yourself). C, not designed for you application with the H&R Bar going over the toe link like the factory stock bar. The RS link works with the TRG and the RS bars..

Thanks guys. I priced out the RS drop links at the local dealer...$457 Cdn/pair! I think I will try moving the drop link mount up the 1/2" first.

The RS links are only like $85 each US$. Your Candian Brothers are trying to screw you..... But they won't work anyway...

Thanks,

I think you are right! Oh well. I am used to that up here. UPS made a killing on my 'Cuda resto.

Thanks. Those might work but I already ordered some components from Midwest Controls. I bought a 3/8" female spherical rod end bearing and a male with an extra long threaded section so I can close couple them. I wanted them to go as short as 3 inches center to center. It's kind of a bastard length...too short for center connecting sleeve and too long to close couple w/std bearings. Trying to get 10mm units would be impossible unless you can use std components. I did buy their user mounted 3/8" "Scotty" studs so we'll see if they work. I'm going to crank the drop link mounts up the 1/2" anyway so I should be good. The dealer is going to do an alignment and corner balance on the 10th if the weather cooperates so I can't wait to see how the new suspension performs.

If you are getting components, you might look for something with a teflon liner. On a street car, a standard rod end can go bad pretty quick causing noise, or even locking up. The teflon helps with lubrication and keeping the dirt out.

Thanks. I ordered one with the teflon liner and the other long male bearing with nylon as it wasn't available in teflon.

One thing I noticed last night is that the right rear shock is set 3/8" higher than the left even the though right side ride height is 2mm lower than the left??? Strange.

What are your fronts set at heightwise? Sounds like you have your car weight jacked. While you may be able to achieve a static height, you may have the balance of the car off.

The front is about 135mm. CORRECTION is now 122mm due to jacking up of the rear. I guess I get to do the front again.

I still might be able to get away with the drop link mounts in the stock position although I will use the adjustables . I'll have another look tonight although my youngest daughter is 16 today and has her big party so maybe not.
