Porsche made billions by squeezing short-sellers of VW’s shares. In only a couple of days Porsche made a cool €6 billion-12 billion ($7.5 billion-15 billion) on the share price of Volkswagen (VW). Hedge funds bought shares they didn't own, however Porsche owned all the shares and squeezed the hedge funds for as much as 5X price!

The greatest damage Porsche may struggle to sell 911s to hedge-fund managers for years and years to come.

I am LOVING seeing Hamilton s*cking hind t!t, Mr. "I am as good as Senna was"..... this is great, Force India Mercedes at times faster than McLaren, finally we get to see the fruits of Adrian Newey's genius at RedBull and Brawn at (I can't wait to see the car in full Virgin livery) his own team.... this is going to be one massively good season... The OWG hit the nail on the head with the aero changes, I know Heidfeld was really happy the first few times he followed cars close in high speed turns, and KERS could make it interesting at times..... I wish they had kept the new points scale (12-9-7-5-4-3-2-1) instead of reverting to last year's, but Bernie's an idiot with his Gold Medal idea, and Max is an idiot with 'most wins gets the title even if he has fewer points than someone else' ! that's insane.....

Last time Porsche factory car competed in a F1 Grand Prix race was in 1962 (without much success).
It was Porsche 804 with flat-8 air-cooled engine (180 hp at 9,200 rpm).



They won couple of WC's titles in the mid-80's providing TAG branded engines for McLaren.

what blows my mind is the Brabham-BMW engine that Nelson Piquet won WDC with was based on the stock block from the 2002 street car, displacement lowered to withstand the turbo boost:

"The 1500cc F1 engine used a block that was different from the 1600 only in the bore diameter and would run up to 1,100bhp without problems; if the boost was wound up to develop above 1,400bhp, it used to crack longitudinally through the cylinders, along the crank axis. Qualifying was always run at 1,350bhp which was (usually) OK. "

don't get me wrong, I am NO BMW fan. They are THE ENEMY. I had an E46 M3 and the abysmal customer service and fried connecting rod bearings chased me into a Porsche store. BMW makes F*CKING UGLY over-computerized, overpriced street cars, but I started following F1 in the early 80s in the turbo era.... amazing beasts those guys drove but then the Porsche CanAm cars were even meaner beasts....

 

Looking forward to this season. I've followed F1 for years as well. Here was my last boy's weekend out race. I'd almost forgot about Orange Arrows.
By the way what happened to the Porsche Supercup series that use to precede the F1 races?

I would never denigrate Hamilton's talent, I just don't like him. Anyone that has been Ron Dennis' baby for 10 years should be expected to do as well as he has done given his opportunities, but his arrogance last year put me over the edge. I just don't like him, just like I didn't like Schumacher. They both are supreme talents however.

I am really happy for Button and Rubens, Kubica cost himself and Vettel their races, Robert had the room and didn't need to close the door as hard as he did. Good drive by Trulli coming from the pit lane to 3rd !
What happened to Nico ? I expected a better race from him

For a race that was decided after a senseless wreck near the end, it was refreshing to see Jensen Button and Ruben Barrichello win 1/2 in a race that saw the Ferraris drop out for reliability issues. We'll see what happens next in Malaysia

I have rarely missed a single race since I started watching F1 as a young boy with my Dad in the early '70's and am more excited about this new season than I have been for years!

 

Thanks. Porsche doesn't do enough to market their involvement in this portion of FIA even though they don't have a car in F1 itself. I"m sure supporting supercup since 1993 can't be cheap.
