Well, Ok, then I guess I'll do it! I didn't want to "ruin" good sport seats by painting them, but the hell with it

I just hate to take it off the road to fuss with the seats, but I'm game...I'll start this weekend and keep everyone updated.

I know you have had a lot of encouragement for this project but be aware of the pitfalls. If the color doesn't match exactly it will look horrrible. And the actual painting of the seat is the final step of a very extensive and laborious process. Lots of things can go wrong and, in my experience, will.

Just go down to the nearest auto salvage place and purchase seats you don't have to paint! I will take the hard back seats for a nominal sum. I'll consider paying part of the shipping to Canada.

Best of luck on the project. I'm sure it will look great.

It's nice to see that everybody here is doing their part keeping our economy going by confirming decisions by others to in turn provide projects for body shops and Porsche parts resources. I've been considering doing the same, somewhere downstairs I have an extra pair of the stock black seats to use when the SS are being painted.

This thread has me thinking. My Midnight Blue 95 has a blue interior with sport seats. I wonder what the blue backs on blue leather would look like.

No economy boost here, just the 75+ bux for a couple quarts of Deltron, and I'll be good to go!

Hey Tim, I think you will want a brighter color or a more contrasting color. If you are going to go to all the trouble of painting them...you want folks to know!

just my $.02

Simon.

Hey Simon, I really dig the black PORSCHE lettering on the GR paint. Can you tell me a little about how this was done?

Thanks,

Bob-

Tim,

WTF???? You have hard backs seats and you haven't painted them???

Dude - either GR with some GR belts....

Bob - I did these myself. I dismantled the seats and then rubbed them back - took them to my bodyshop and my buddy that runs it - had some REVERSE Porsche lettering stickers laying around.

After it was painted - he laid the reverse stickers over the GR and sprayed some black and after it was dry peeled it off and then some clear....

Its subtle - and only the most astute see it!

Simon.

bright red seat backs will look very cheesy in my opinion.

I would NOT do it.
