Default Good Bay Area Driving Routes

(I'm sure this has been covered before, but I can't find anything using the broken search engine on this site.)

Can anyone recommend some fun 993 driving routes in the SF Bay Area, preferably close to the South Bay? Now that the weather is getting nicer, I'd like to spend more time behind the wheel on some beautiful roads getting better acquainted with my car.

I did drove from downtown Saratoga and all the way up to highway 9. Pretty fun but the road is kind of narrow. Drive safe.

I've driven that route before as well, but it's almost too narrow/curvy so you can never really get up any decent speed. It is a pretty drive, though, and there are some beautiful lookout areas up there.

I like the climb up Hwy 9 west of Saratoga as well (85 to Saratoga Ave). When you get to 35 (Skyline) I like to turn north (right) and take in all the beautiful turns and views to the intersection with 84. Then turn left and down all the way to the coast. Some places to get up to speed after La Honda. Turn right (north) on Hwy 1 up to 92, back over to 280 and then play with some cars on the freeway back home.

Terry,

Are you offering to host the next coffee/donuts Sunday morning drive on this route???

Just like the good old days meeting up at 92 and 35!

Yep, wish I had a pic of me offering the CHP guy the donuts before we left the parking lot.

Let the Los Gatos and other guys pick a convenient time/place. and I can be there.

I am out of hall pass points from last Sunday's drive, but I need to top up my man-card points.

I believe you meant to say "I done drove from downtown Saratoga"

Woodside road up to Skyline is also nice but DO NOT SPEED IN THE TOWN OF WOODSIDE. I done drove that one last weekend.

I'll second Highway 25 south of Hollister - another option is La Cienaga Road which basically parallels 25 to the west. Highway 25 really turns nice south of Pinnacles Natl Monument. Turn west to King City at King City/Bitterwater Road.

Closer to the South Bay, going south on Almaden Expressway, then jogging over to McKee Road and following that as it turns to Uvas Road. Turn right when Uvas hits Watsonville Road and follow that to the intersection with Highway 152. Left takes you into Gilroy, Right takes you over the pass to Watsonville - a great drive if you can get a clean run (good luck).

Carmel Valley Road and River Road in Monterey County are also nice drives.

Enjoy and Be Safe!
