...what a wild night. Can't believe you talked me into those tattoos. At least the butterflies make my bicep look big, & the flames make my legs tan
That was too much fun!
Fun new input from a Targa owner trying to make a Speedster, & maybe an opportunity for someone who wants to continue down that road.
For more photos, click Hemmings.com's "1996 Porsche 911 Targa, Cabriolet, Speedster" FS ad:

Clear California title. 21k miles. Odomoter is not functional, estimated mileage is 50-60k.
This car was originally sold and manufactured as a 911 Targa, the first generation 911's that had a glass retractable roof. If you know these cars or do some searches on the Targa's, there are some stories on failing roofs. This is one of them. This car was purchased with a defective roof, with the hopes to repair the glass top (manufactured by Webasto for Porsche.) We were not successful.
The Targa is built on the convertible body, so our first instinct was to just remove the roof, (which is surprisingly easy) and install the first components of a Speedster, the bubble as you can see in photo's. Our intention is to convert this car into a 993 Speedster. Porsche originally only built 1 for himself. However, the kit for the 964 Speedster fits on this car. The hefty price tag, needed paint work is what currently is holding us up to complete this project. So the choice for us, carry on with the Speedster conversion, or sell it as is.
We still have all the Targa components, (read: Roof assembly). Tracks, motors, glass etc, all is there. It is entirely possible to just reassemble the glass roof, and mount that entire roof on the car essentially giving you a coupe with an enormous glass roof. Or, since this is a Cabriolet body, this car could also be converted into a Cab. After researching and looking at the Speedster, that just seems the way to go.
The positives on this car:
Motor runs strong. Transmission shifts good. Brakes well.
The negatives:
Cosmetic work needed. Body has several light to medium scratches on it. Interior needs work, (Carpet was replaced already)\
We have access to a lift if a prospective buyer wants to see the undercarriage. We can take many photo's, or describe in detail what you get with this car.
This is the last of the air cooled, and arguably the last of a breed. There is a lot of value in the extra parts included, and the many different things possible with this car. We invite you to call or email with any questions you may have.

In the ever-so-unlikely chance you ever find yourself in Europe with a Speedster, all I ask for a souvenir is a 993 photo with a Bilanmatic 1000
If you go, don't forget to wave back (see below, LOLz)

Glad you made it over there. I know you had to rearrange lots to make it happen quickly.
Whether in Arpad's, Graham's, Marc's, or Butzi's (RIP), I'm positive the Bilanmatics will be lining up for photo ops
Blimey! Catch the closing of the London Olmpics in person?
If there was an event for 993 Speedsters, maybe RP993's would win the gold medal

Since the hood's open & it was shot indoors, I'm guessing the first photo was taken about the time it was near a Bilanmatic 1000.
Oh, wait, sorry: for those in the UK, etc., that would be 'bonnet' not 'hood.'
