Default Now we return to scheduled programming of our Speedster thread already in progress...

For a long time, this was lost amongst the hundreds of Speedster-related pix on my hard drive.
Now I've been enlightened by RL: it's a Porsche family 993 belonging to Mark Porsche:

for the 993 Speedsters (both the factory built ones and the aftermarket ones) are the shape and offsets between the right and left outside mirrors also different like they are on standard 993s? just curious.

Jeff-- Welcome back, bro. Let's hope this photo thread motivates. Your phat *** WB cab conversion's the coolest, & closest thing by a RLer I've seen to a custom 993 conversion like this.

If you haven't read from post #1, I think you'll enjoy: 'the official' 993 Speedster photo thread. I probably have up to 100 more pix to post, so it's a positive outlet to share my otherwise socially-unredeeming obsession.

Next up (after taking a shot at David's mirror question): the black 993 Speedster currently in my avatar, & referred to here:

David-- I bet you're right. Think the sideview mirrors' positioning's based on driver's viewpoint; doubt that changes from 993 Speedster vs. cab vs. coupe.

There aren't many vertical photos to choose from; hope these help to compare with stock non-Speedsters.
The passenger's side mirror looks angled further back on both of these shots:

These are the racing / low-drag sideview mirrors:

God's-eye view shots of 993 Speedsters are rare. Anyone else got some?

IMHO it's silly that they didn't change the location of the mirrors and make them symetrical for the conversions. The only reason the mirrors have different shape and location is so that the frame of the side window triangles don't interfere with the view so I see no reason why anyone going through the trouble of doing a Speedster conversion make them symetrical.

D-- Does Porsche make a symmetrical 993 passenger sideview mirror? Do you have any photos looking down at factory 911 Speedsters?

J-- An amp that goes up to 11 must be better, right?
Hence ... single opening = Carrera & Turbo; dual = Turbo S; triple = Extremo!

A shiny dime goes to the first Rennlister that correctly identifies the manufacturers of the amps pictured.

You can use mirrors from a Euro-spec RHD car. Unfortunatlely I don't have any overhead pics of factory speedsters....maybe take a look at what they did on the 964 speedster. I personally think that if you're going to do a conversion you should make them symetrical, even if the factory didn't do it that way.

I remember seeing an old magazine article on rolled white color 959, that was converted to a Speester w/ a custom removable hardtop. Bruce Canepa did a 89 Speedster w/ 962 engine & 934 body, for a Casino owner.

C911-- I've found so many pix of 959-look cabs & Speedsters now that I'm wondering if that should be a photo thread. Just last night I read about the 959 you mention that was converted to a Speedster.

Also found 3 shots of a silver 997 Speedster with 964 clamshell; must be done on a 993 WB, 'cuz it looks surprisingly good. (MUCH better than those in this thread: slightly OT: next-gen SPEEDSTER!.) I'll post those pix when my 993 Speedster library's exhausted.

David-- Another shot with both mirrors...
