Default Excellent HERGESHEIMER experience

Hi there,

I wanted to let you know about my experience at Hergescheimer's today.

I had agreed to purchase a 993 a thousand miles away, conditional on a PPI by Hergesheimer. I make no apology for being a rather meticulous & exacting individual; despite not having had the opportunity to physically inspect this car, my expectations were high. I chose Herg's because of their reputation & after speaking with Laura, was left in no doubt that they would carry out a VERY thorough inspection.

To summarise, they were absolutely superb and I will not be buying the car.

I have no affiliation with this shop - just wanted to post my findings as it may potentially assist others.

Need a PPI in Orange Co, California ? I know who to call

My car was also PPI'd at Hergesheimer before i purchased it. It received glowing reviews.

I'll be ever the Diplomat & simply say when I asked the seller about a common 993 problem area, I was misinformed.

My favourite pastime other than driving Porsche's, is (Muay) Thai boxing.
Let me tell you that I just got back from the gym & I must have kicked 7 tons of sh*t out of the heavy bag tonight. That's how much I like having my time wasted.

Due diligence & a quality PPI are your best friends. Herg's are tops.

Good luck

What was the issue though? Did fixing the problem make the car just too out of the price range?

They inspected Chris' car before I bought it, also long distance and sight unseen. They put up with my multiple questions and were very helpful. I'd use them again.

Of course, I did break the cardinal rule of not having a car inspected by a shop that knows the seller, but in Chris' case I made an exception

I was ready to put the balance of the cash down on a " mint" Polar silver 97 C2S from a reputable dealer in Costa Mesa, when I got the call from Mark Hergescheimer that every panel but the roof had been repainted. No visable signs of frame or panel damage, but that voided the deal imediatly The dealser appeared to be as suprised as me.
Need less to say I was extremly dissapointed in the outcome, but happy that the repaint was discovered.
I had them discontiune the PPI after Mark's call.

You walked away because the roof was not repainted?

So some other unsuspecting buyer will end up buying the car. Poor guy.

I take issue with you on this. You make a pretty clumsy attempt to manipulate & it doesn't work with me. Tut tut.

If you read the title of this thread, it is about my POSITIVE experience of using Hergescheimers, not the "outing" of a seller.

Due diligence & PPI work fine for most.
