Matte Finish - X Post
Posted this in OT, but 50% of the responses will be smart *** remarks
I see car companies are producing vehicles with matte finishes. It got me thinking about how to best (quality and cost) reproduce this on my Landcruiser. The flat black wheels cause the green to really standout.
The options I can think of are:
- repaint
- matte clear coat, but believe the original clear would need to be entirely stripped
- wrap, but that would cost as much as paint or clear coat
- wet sand? not sure this would achieve the desired effect
Any other options?
By the way, I am not concerned about re-sale.
Oh, if anyone with Photoshop would be kind enough for a sneak peak of a matte green, I would appreciate it.

Tape if off and spray can it matte olive green like the old RUF's. Trash those tires and replace them with some huge rubber to fill out those wheel wells.
Here is what my Dad did to his car with a can of spray paint. (it may have been rolled on come to think of it)
Olive would look better on your truck though.

rob,
this is just my opinion, but painting your truck with a matte finish would be a little over the top (too much matte). the matte finishes i've seen on lambos lately have all had "regular" painted wheels to add contrast.
when i did the wheels on my (your) car, i had a matte clear applied and i think it works really well. how about painting the lower portion of your truck matching green and leave the wheels matte?
i vote for bigger tires, too. and how about a winch and a big roof rack with a spare tire up there? kinda dakar rally/baja 1000 look?
i love helping other people spend money.

The best looking ones I've seen are shiny, but don't show reflections. I think it's more like a regular clearcoat over some sort of special paint, not the other way around.
