Default Question about jumping the battery

I was informed that while my 993 was in for respray and bumper modifications for several months, they had to jump the car eventually every time they had to move it from one area to another. I have yet to recieve my car back, but will there be problems from doing this?

TIA

Probably just a bad battery from letting it go flat a few times. Otherwise you should be OK unless they used a super high capacity "starting charger" which most shops either don't have or are smart enough not to use.

Put a new battery in it and you should be fine.

I'd always heard the horror stories from owning 928's that a jump start could fry the brain, just me being worried, not being there with the car at all.

I used to jump mine during winter layoffs, but my mechanic told me never to. However, I never had a problem.

The airbag voltage sensor is very, very sensitive.

If you have a dead battery - and jump-start the car - the 'wide fluctuations' in voltage/current - as power is being used to crank the engine - may cause it to 'sit up and notice'.

When this sensor 'sits up and takes notice' - it will send an error signal to the ECU and cause your air-bag light to STAY ON for approx. 2 minutes after you turn the ignition to ON. It will then go off after two minutes. Normally the airbag light illuminates for about 3 seconds, then goes off, when you turn the ignition to ON.

You'll need to go to the $tealership to get this error code reset -- using their Bosch Hammer or equivalent gizmo.
