993 Engine blower wiring (connections)
Hi,
The power cable from the blower in the engine compartment of my 993 (pre-varioram) dangles, the two pronged plug has become disconnected. The ignition leads were changed a while back so I assume disconnection happened as a result. My difficulty is that I cannot see the appropriate connector. Am I right to assume it is part of the engine loom and maybe is trapped behind the air ducting? Presumably I will need to dismantle these items to get at it. Advice will be very welcome because normally I leave all these matters to professionals. Thank you

The entire blower assembly is held in place by two 10mm bolts. One is visible, and the other is easily found using a courtesy reach-around. Undo the hose clamps on the large air duct, remove the blower resistor that's simply pushed into the duct, and wiggle the entire assembly out. You should then be able to locate the hiding electrical connector and get everything back together.

Hi Andreas. You are a star. I understand what I have to do. The heater pipe on my car is slightly different in having two parts. Technical Bulletin 9604 refers. I found a copy on pcarworkshop.com yesterday if you are interested in upgrading.
I must congratulate you on the condition of your car. It looks fantastic, especially the pristine condition of the engine compartment. How do you keep it so clean? I wish my 72,000 miler looked as good. I have been tempted to use a small steam cleaner to remove the accumulation of dust but fear I may mess up the electrics. Yours has rather more labels on the chassis rail. By coincidence my car is Polar Silver with classic grey leather and is a Tiptronic S. Some say an old man's transmission (I am 71) but nonetheless great for track days. No missed shifts! Last year I drove to Austria and back without a missed beat. Says everything about this great product. PS I notice the Motor Sound air intake. I fitted same to my car. Sounds great at full chat. Thanks again.

I prefer simplicity in the engine compartment.

As for cleaning - nothing special. I purchased the car 4 years ago with just over 30,000 well-cared-for miles. I wash the engine compartment down with Simple Green once a year and then apply 303 Protectant. Otherwise, I just wipe things down as needed.
