Is it just my perception or are more cars coming up for sale than at any time in the last few years? I'll stop short of saying flooding the market, but it seems like the worst possible time to be selling, if you don't absolutely have to...
It certainly seems that way. Having bought my car a year ago I would have been pulling my hair out if it wasn't for the Cdn exchange rate going south by 30%.

I'm sorry, my screw-up, the '96 w/21k mi was a C4S coupe and not a cab with an asking price of $49,900. I appreciate all the help and I have ordered the February '09 issue of Excellence Magazine for their pricing guide. Thanks again.
Don't bother with the magazine. it won't change the seller's min. Make an offer that you think it is fair, and negotiate from there. Prices for these cars will vary a lot, and have an individual component to it, specially if it is what you're looking for. If you fancy black and black and low miles, and the PPI confirms it is solid car, go for it!
BTW I am still looking for that low mileage C2/C4 in white with black interior..........
If my 97 c4s with 50k miles is for sale for 42k (free plug!) then a 96 with lower miles "should" go for higher. 49 seems a little high - but this also sounds like a dealer car.
How can low miles not be a plus as long as PPI shows it is a solid car? I just bought a '98 C4S with 33k mi for $43k and feel I did well. The market will turn around and I feel a '96 to '98 C4S values will get strong again. Any thoughts?

Mileage, to a degree, can be overrated, especially on 10 plus year old cars.
Is an impeccably maintained 75k mile car worth any less than a 45k mile car... after 10 years? One would think the 30k miles difference is worth something, as you have 30K miles less wear and potentially less repair.
I would suggest that appearance, PPI, and maintenance history of problems is much more telling than mileage alone. Oh, and if you know the PO (and he/she is an active rennlist member), all the better yet!
Oh, I sold, last May albeit, a 97 C4S with 75K miles for $44K. So for only $1K more you could have had a '97, with about 40K miles more - your loss :- )
Does any one know production numbers on '96, '97 and '98 C4S's? I bought a '98 and was told they hold their value better because only 299 C4S's were produced in '98. Is this true...assuming all else is equal on the cars?
