Wheel suggestions for 993 cab
#17
Would our recommendations vary between cab, coupe, targa and turbo? I doubt it.
That said, you'll find plenty of guys voting for MY02s, followed by hollow spoke Technology wheels, then it's a wide open scatter, but I recommend stuff built by BBS, which includes the aforementioned "factory" wheels. If you daily drive in a big, potholed city, your 17" Cup IIs are an incidentally great choice.

I've had the following 18" wheels on the cabs - Techart Formula, MY02, Gemballa Competion and Technology Twists (in chrome so they didn't last very long on the car).
Here's my $0.02 take on these wheels; probably best bang for the buck; and they're BBS!
- MY02s - Lightweight and good value for money
- Gemballas - looks like they could have been a factory wheel; looks "right" on the car; big lip if you looking for that; decent weight
- Techarts - also a great looking wheel but no lip; for some reason works better with certain colors than others; decent weight
- Technology or Turbo Twists - good value, Tech wheels are light, looks "right", but chrome is definitely a no-no...esp with the Technology wheels

David,
I take it the wheels in your sig. are the Gemballas? How can I find these? I love the big lip look, but there doesn't seem to be much choice out there. You said "decent weight". Do you know how much?
Also what size tire are you running on the rear, ride height, and what's the offset on these?
And where can I find a set of these?
Thanks,

I don't have the weights handy but another Rennlister posted them up sometime last year. In the pic below the rear tire is a 285/30-18 SO2 and the rims are 11" wide with a ET52 offset. Size and offsets, but unfortunately not weights, are in the link below

Nice Arena Red cab, awful close to my car.
I suspect I'm in the minority here but I've never cared for the RUF or the stock wheel that came on the Targas (name escapes me at the moment). I'm leaning towards the MY'02's myself, I'd like to see the MY'05's in person though. Although the /\ BBS P' SC II's above look very nice I just think they would be a bich to clean.
Just my .02

+1 to arenared's comments on keeping some wheels clean. I had SSR Speedstar 19s on for a while, and the were a cast-iron b*tch to keep clean, with all the little crannies and bolt heads, and after a while they were just a bit too bling for my taste. Also the rim protruded just past the tire, so if you got too close to a curb, instant rash.
I have MY02s now, and I love them. Easy to clean, and if you do get a scratch or scrape, easy to touch up. To my eye, they really compliment the smooth, simple lines of the car--they just look right.
My fronts are PN 996 363 136 03, 8X18 ET50, Pirelli P Zero Rosso 225/40 ZR18 N4. Rears are PN 996 362 140 03, 10X18 ET65, Pirelli P Zero Rosso 285/30 ZR18 N4. Narrow body car, factory suspension and settings, no rubbing. I like these tires, too. Pretty grippy, fairly quiet and smooth, nice rub strip to reduce curbing.

My BBS wheels are very close to Arena993's. They might even be the same ones. Mine were straight from the BBS factory up here in GA...many moons ago. For me, they make the car. They are not difficult to clean, you just need a smaller brush - just finished cleaning them tonight.
