Home garage question, re' tight parking.

Mini speed bump is the cheapest and most reliable option IMO. Drill 3/8 holes into concrete, make top rounded and finished piece of 2x2 and drill holes to match, then pound and bolt 3/8 hold down bolts (available for about $2 from the likes of Home Depot) through the 2x2 into the concrete. It's never gonna move. Mini speed bumps... done!

I bought a couple of the mini speed bump things online, that used double stick tape. with the 993 I coast until I hit the stop then pull the e-brake. after running into for a year or so, it has moved slightly, so a couple of cement nails into the floor would be a better installation..

A former co-worker of mine had an interesting twist on the tennis ball idea: he used a system of pulleys to rig the tennis ball to the top of the garage door. So when the door goes up, the ball(s) lower into place, and then retract back to the ceiling when the door is put down. No more dangling cat/dog toys. He had also tried the laser crosshairs, but liked this method better.

I park my motorcycle in front of my 996 with about 3" between the bike and the front bumper of the car and 6" in between the back of the car and the garage door (tight, I know).
I use a low tech 2 x 4, cut to the right length and not bolted to the floor. If it were fixed to the floor, it would be hard to back the motorcycle out of its spot.
I put a piece of blue painters tape underneath the 2x4 on the floor, so I can tell if its slid around (ie, if you see the tape its moved; the tape marks the exact spot for the leading edge of the wood).
Just make sure you let the car ease back off the bumper before pulling the e-brake so your tires aren't compressed on the bump when its parked.

cool..got a link?
So far the string and ball (cat ain't mess with it yet) method has worked this week. Now I'm on her side, but once I clear out my side, I'll want a permanent solution. The string-n-ball does give you a good visual though...

I've used this kind for years in my small garage to stop the ML500. They tend to move around a bit, so I have a tiny dot on the floor to realign it every once in a while.
A mirror mounted on the wall at a 45 deg. angle next to where the two cars almost touch would give you a good view of how far apart the cars were.
The tennis ball method works amazingly well, but animals or kids could rule this one out , cats allowed in the garage ?
Good luck, let us know what ends up working for you

Yup, right here. $40 at sears.
My only complaint is that it only stays on for like a minute, which can be a little annoying.

Do you always park the same car in front? If not, the tennis ball, laser and speed bump ideas may not work when the cars are swapped.
Also, don't forget you need to get the first car in as close to the wall as possible, in order to maximize the space left for the other car. I built a wooden stop that the car's front tire hits, placing the bumper less than 1" from the wall. It happens to work with both of our cars because the overhang is close to the same.
Our garage is big enough that the 2nd car has enough room to park by eye. But, if it weren't, I would do the mirror at 45 deg idea, preferably on the ceiling. (Tho I must admit I like the downward pointing laser idea!)
