Heater problems... need feedback please.
Could use some feed back here.... Im using my 95 993 a little this winter and yeah the heat is great but EVERY,EVERY time I come up to a stop light the exhaust fumes are getting sucked into the engine bay and then through the heater. I have a cat delete and the result being, the exhaust fumes smell VERY strong and pretty gross. I dont know how much longer I can take this.
Just looking at the car when warming up in the morning I see the white exhaust fumes getting sucked right through the engine cooling fan and thats where the heater inlet is. I love my 993 but this is not to cool.
When on the highway, its perfect. No exhaust smell at all. First stop light with the wind blowing the wrong way and Im breathing fumes!
Anybody else having this problem.

Mike,
So you dont have any exhaust getting sucked into the heater ever? I'll take a look at the pipes again but I just removed, cleaned and reinstalled the complete heater piping and everything looked like new.
Thanks for the reply.

Your heater ducting assemblies are fine - it's your cat bypass causing the stench. You're probably smelling oxides of nitrogen that are getting sucked in to your heater pipes. There's no smell on a 993 with cats.
Set your thermostat to all the way cold and the mixer should block off hot air intake. Or recirc with your blower off.
