Prices are in a state of flux. There's no real answer. Strike a bargain that seems fair to both parties.

The February 2009 issue of Excellence has a "Market Update" for '89-'98 911's not sure how accurate it is but they are saying 1996 C2 $17657 to $26875

Hi Everyone,
I again thank you all for the feedbacks and tips.
The asking price on the '96 993 C2 is $36k, which I believe to be a little high these days for that mileage.
It is Polar Silver with black interior, and the owner has tried to bring it back to its original stock condition, removing some after market equipment installed by previous owners.
I think the car is in sound condition, but I agree the PPI is a must, to evaluate possible costs I may face around the corner.
I am very sure about the colors I am interested in, which are 1. white, 2. silver, or 3. speed yellow; all with black interior. So, thanks Bloke, but black/gray won't work for me at this stage.
It's been difficult to find good cars here in South Florida, specially in my color combination. I've found an early '95 C4, silver with black, 38k miles, 2 owners, but he wants $40k for it, and I find that to be quite expensive. I made offers, but he's been firm on his price.
My friend, who also own a '83 3.0 SC for track use, has decided to sell his C2 that he bought just over a year ago, and we've been talking about it.
I've had a '97 C2S Tip, a '02 C2 Stick, and a '03 Boxster S Stick, but I think I've made my mind to the 993 Stick narrow body that I am looking for, being C2 or C4, so I want to do it right.
Thanks.

I believe that your assessment is correct - he is a little high. Maybe more than a little. Maybe you should suggest that he gets off whatever he's on.

Seriously, look around. Do your homework. It's not that hard to come up with a pricing idea. And it sure ain't what he's asking.

Nile13, thanks.

I have a price, and was just trying to check and see what you guys would say. $30k is my idea of fair price, but since it's been hard to find a car down here, a premium may be worth, given I am through with buying cars from a distance.....

Having said that, if anyone has or knows about a late '96, early '97 narrow body C2/C4 white with black interior, stick shift with low miles anywhere in the US, PLEASE let me know!!

Thanks again!

Bola, quite honestly, I would not pay $30K either. It's a $27K car at best if it is in very good shape with no issues and with paperwork for maintenance.

BTW, you mentioned 5 owners. That would scare me somewhat. Certainly would put a serious doubt in my mind.

My April 1994 C2 Tip has way passed 80K miles (124K km) and never required any top end job or tranny repair. Runs like a solid piece of iron -- or a pig iron as they put it.

The 5 owner thing would give me pause as well. But the car is worth what you're willing to pay for it, and if you're willing to pay $30K then that's what it's worth to you. That doesn't sound unreasonable to me, especially if it's in excellent condition both mechanically and cosmetically and the PPI checks out.

Thanks Guys. My friend just listed the car for sale and you can see it here and in the classifieds section. I hope he gets his price. If he changes his mind, I am a buyer.

I hope your friend gets his price as well as that will be good news to all of us. Unfortunatly, I have a feeling that he has it priced a few dollars too high based on the average mileage, lack of options (only lists motorsound), and items like original shocks (at least there is no mention of new shocks with the new springs). The car does look nice and the new clutch is piece of mind.
