Default Where to connect a harwired GPS etc?

I am hard wiring a GPS power source (its actually to power my track camera) and was wondering where would be a good place to tap into.
This is for my track car, but I would like to avoid a long wire run, and would like it to be hidden.
Switched would be better than unswitched, and fused of course.
I was thinking that I should tap into the back of the cigar lighter, as a normal GPS, radar detector, etc. would use the outlet for power. I am really doing the same thing, except using the hardwired method.
Track camera is mounted on the horizontal bar behind and between the 2 front seats, and I figure I will run the wire down the cage and under the carpet then up under the dash. Alternate suggestions are welcome.
TIA

Back of the cigarette lighter works fine. Or the radio wire harness.

I run my RKE/alarm and data logger off of the (disconnected) passenger seat's power harness.

I run my wideband O2 sensor off of the wire harness for the (disconnected) rear wing controller under the dash.

I run my V1 by splicing into something in the center console. I forget what I tapped, but IIRC I just following the procedure on p-car.com/diy/diy.html for hard wiring a V1.

Wouldn't the cigarette lighter be tough to get to??

The sunroof or cab top switches in the center console IMHO is the best switched power source. Neither is in constant use (vs radio power), easy to access and is fused.

All excellent ideas; thank you to everyone that contributed.
BTW, is the p-car.com site gone? I haven't been able to pull it up in the last 24 hours.
