Default Question on Rear bumper

So I have a *black* USA-spec 993.

Now that I am back in the UK, I would prefer a Euro spec (bumperette-less) bumper with space for a wider UK license plate.

I am therefore thinking of buying a used bumper skin. The one I am looking at is Red. I would therefore have it resprayed. My concern is that the finish would never match what I have now. If it chips, it will be red underneath.. etc.

My current bumper has 1 chip in it but the material seems solid pastic, and is not painted. Is this true? *i.e. would an original red one be solid red plastic?* I only ever want to improve the quality of the car, rather than reduce.

Odd question I know....

Thanks!

Phil

I'm pretty sure the bumpers are prime coated and then sprayed as normal, anyone else know better?

Black is just about the easiest color in the world to match. Red is the hardest. You shouldn't have any problems.

Or you could just remove your bumperettes and their mountings in order to fit the wider plate?

I hear that if you remove the bumperettes then this leaves some holes..?

Does anyone have any pics of a rear bumper with the bumperettes deteled?
