A long time ago, back during the summer, a girl at a BBQ thought it would be really cool to drink a Corona while sitting on the hood of my car. I was not present to explain to her that doing this is actually not cool at all, and she caved my hood in. I've been using a fiberglass replacement since then, but it just don't fit quite right and I've decided that it's time to get a real one.
If you're within driving distance of New Haven, CT, all the better.
And if you know of, or have, a fiberglass/CF hood that fits well enough to be presentable on the street, please let me know.
There are two dismantlers local to me that have a good stock of OEM 993 hoods. PM me if you need info. IMO, MA Shaw makes a damn good CF hood that fits well. Mike can make something to your specs re. weight/strength.

Sorry to hear that, Noah. I held a party a six years ago and a drunk girl thought it would be a great idea to pose on the hood of my 993. One of my very good friends implored her not to and told her that I would be very, very upset of she did so. Luckily, he was persuasive enough to dissuade her.
In this case, it was just alcohol and stupidity...she's not a bad person, just a city type who never owned a car and apparently didn't realize that cars are made of thin, easily dented sheet metal. Annoying, but I'm over it.

I would love to put a fiberglass hood on the car, but I'm reluctant because I fear ending up with a hood that doesn't fit. My experience of fiberglass parts is that fitment is a crapshoot, and largely depends on how used up the mold was when your particular piece was made. I'll give Mike a call and see what he thinks...having my hood sat on could be made less annoying if I end up with a good lightweight hood out of the deal.
