HELP! Stuck with CR-1 removal
I'm removinig the evaporator and everything is going well except getting the radio out. I'm trying to get the CR-1 out. I don't have any "radio removal" tools. Any way to get it out? The rest seems to be going great - thanks to Pcar.

I've got the DIN tool and a CR 210 that I can look at and the DIN tool will remove the 210. The CR 1 has a different release latch. I've done a search and have read some posts that say to pull it out after the latches are in the relaese position. I've put the latches in that position and it is not even moving, almost like it has another latch holding it.
Thanks

Ah, got it - I understood that you didn't have the tool.
You might also try this: With the DIN tool inserted, reach up under the dash on the passenger side between the center console and the glove box. You should be able to feel the back of the radio and push from there while pulling on the DIN tool. The rear of the radio pushes into a support bracket and I've found it's pretty easy to have the wiring get jammed in there. It's possible that it's causing difficulty in removing the radio.
Just a thought...

Arena993 here again. The tools you showed are for the CR-210 not the CR-1. The CR-1 has 2 tabs once the trim ring is removed. The tabs have to be dead center and you pull from the cassette opening as well as push from the back. Having two people makes the job easier.

See above. We are doing the AC evap DIY. Pretty intensive as far as removal of parts. John is the lead and I am the assistant. Going pretty well so far.
