Default White '96 993 bargain priced in Omaha

I just found this 993 on ebay being listed by my local dealer. Other than the oil filters I buy and the occasional cup of coffee I enjoy, I don't have any affiliation with the dealer. I wanted to pass on this listing as I find it to be a bargain price (and somewhat depressing). The dealer had been asking $38.9k on their website for the longest time. I do know the previous owner and this car and can pass on what info I know to anyone interested. Or I'd be willing to take a closer look for anybody interested as well.

Looks like a nice car. Man I wish I'd waited a couple of years to buy my 993, I could have saved a bundle. Scratch that, I've had too much fun!

Much like stocks several months ago, people are now starting to barf up other assets - especially toys. Although this one isn't exactly a screaming deal.

Prices for 911's have really come in, except for longhoods. They've held up surprisingly well.

Is $28,000 really a bargain price for '96 with 65,000 miles and very few cool options?

I love the color combo and wish the Cactuswagen was that combo.

Guards Red/black isn't even remotely close, what happened Cactus? That being said, white does look great on any 911 though I prefer a darker interior. Still amazing how much prices for all "toys" have dropped in the last year. Oh well, keep em if you can!

I don't think it's a bargain. It's about $6-7K away from a bargain. A normal price that a dealer would _try_ to get now for a regular 96 C2 with that mileage. They only wish someone would pay them $28k in the middle of the winter in Neraska.

As a comparison, I sold my '96 C2 (polar silver, black) with 65k miles in July '08 for $32.5k to the first person who came to look. The only advertising I did was troll this forum for "wtb 993" threads. Although my car had a recent clutch, steering rack, 60k and SAI clean-up.

I think you did quite well for a '96 model with 65K on the clock, even for mid-2008, but February 2009 is a whole 'nother ball game. My $0.02.

I am in the market and have seen two C2 in the last month with similar mileage go very quickly for around $22k, Southern California market.

Currently I am looking at a 97 C4S with 67k on the clock for $34k.

+1. I do love me some GP white on any 911, though. Black interior and a new top end, then it's a nice deal.

But like most stealer ads, not a wit of info regarding maintenance, which is what matters most to a knowledgeable buyers and RL whackos. In fact, some dealers even toss records! Privacy issues notwithstanding, I assume with a Ferrari or Aston on up, a "no records" gaff would cost those idiots thousands in their resale price.

Van1 , can you tell us what you know about this car? Maint history, crash/repair history, etc.

The dealer touts its time in Florida as a plus which is a negative for me.

Didn't really want a red car but this one had all the "bells and whistles"! Love cashmere interior if it is perfect but it can look nasty pretty quick if you don't keep after it.

Ok, here is what I do know. The car belonged to a fellow local PCA member that I met at the track in the spring of '06 in this car. We chatted a bit as at the time the car was an identical twin to my car being that it had an aero kit. He told me that he had recently bought the car from somebody in Florida who allegedly took great care of it. The car had Techart springs installed, albiet on the stock shocks. It also has Techart wheel spacers all around. I believe that the aerokit was a Techart add on and not stock. This same PCA member also owned a '95 GR cabrio 993. About a year after this event he traded both of these cars into the dealer for an '03 C4S. From what I know, the white car was picked up by one of the techs at the dealer and the red car sat for a long time on the lot. Many months later the white car was on the lot as well. Not sure what happened with the tech's ownership. The red car eventually sold while the white car sat (and still sits). They had been asking $38.9k, I think even more when they first took it in. I last went to look at the car in September when I needed to compare something during my suspension install. The car was very clean and presented well. Somewhere between then and now, the aerokit tail was remove in favor of the smooth back. I have no knowledge of engine work or accident history. I can only say the car is a nice example for age and mileage from what I recall. I thought the price seemed fair now but I must be getting very behind in my valuation knowledge (seems to change quickly daily) as this doesn't seem to be the case.

I do want to see if the dealer will sell me the wheel spacers. What are they worth? And are wheel spacers worth it for track purposes?
