Any interest in bone stock `97 C2 w/18k miles??
A friend has decided to sell his bone stock `97 Atric Silver Metalic C2 and asked me what interest there would be on Rennlist. I have seen this car and it is immaculate as the low miles would attest... here's his discription....
1997 Carrera 911(993)
Arctic Silver Metallic, Classic Grey-Partial Leather Interior with black accents/trim, AM/FM Radio w/CD Player, Hi-Fi Sound Package w/8 Speakers, Power Seat Package, Motor Sound Package, 17" Wheels w/Cup Design Rims, Rim Caps Porsche Crest, Original Keys, Original Books. Records
18,000 miles on car
$40K
Your comments are encouraged and welcomed... I will in turn pass them along to the owner of this excellent all original example

Retail???
The problem with a low mileage car, all its going going for it are low miles. Drive it for a while and the low miles disappear. There are simply too many 993 NB cars around for them to carry a premium of $10.0 to $15.0 over standard retail.
Wholesale...based on the slow economy and assuming it will sit on a lot for 60 days, maybe longer, I imagine a wholesale dealer would pay up to $22,500 for the low miles car.... and that would be tops. A pal of mine, a reputable dealer, jut bought a 70,000 mile 993 for about $17,000.
$40,000 is a tough nut...wholesale GT3 cars are going in the $50's.
A retail Carrera 2 or Carrera 4 S...I'll bet you could buy one of these privare party for in the low $40's, maybe better.
That is my $0.02....I hope I am wrong and there is a person williong to step up for $40,000....

I think that car could go for close to $40K. But it will have to be a buyer specifically looking for THAT car...color combo, low miles, stock, immaculate...those things are very important (willing to pay for) to some people...like me. If I were in the market, I'd be looking for a car just like that, and I would expect to pay a premium for it. The buying market for that specific car at $40K is much smaller than if it were in "regular" condition with "regular" miles...but in my opinion, there is a buyer for that car at $40K or very close...it will just take some time to find that buyer...or more specifically, that kind of buyer to find that car.

Maybe with black interior. Poor thing will likely be a garage queen for life. I'm sure Sloan or RPM will give him $22.5K.
I keep telling everyone to be patient for their price. Better yet, take it off the market if it's not a "must sell" situation. It's a bad time for "just fishing".

I agree with Allen, you would need a specific purchaser looking for that particular car. Otherwise low 30's might be more appropriate. As far as waiting to sell when economic times are better, I'm not sure that the prices on these cars will actually go back up again. Others may have different opinions and I'm sure they will chime in. Just my $.02.

Three years ago you would have people tripping over each other to buy that car for $40k.

A 96 Blk/Gray 993 was for sale here locally. It had 26K miles on it. The last advertised price I saw on autotrader was 36K. That was back in October.
Don't know if it sold or not.
I'd bet you you could get mid 30's. The gray interior is the problem IMO. If it was black it would be another story.

40k maybe a year or two ago. This year? I don't see how it could sell for more than 35-36k, maybe 33-34k because of the grey interior.
The low miles are nice, but on the other hand an under-driven car can be worse than a 100k mile 993.
Just my $0.02. Gorgeous car nonetheless. GL to your friend with the sale, you never know, if he holds on long enough I'm sure he'll find a buyer at a reasonable price.

Also keep in mind that not all 993 owners are negatively affected by the economy...but I agree that $36K is a number that should generate a sale in a more reasonable time frame.

As way of comparison, I purchased a 95 C2 with the same options and just under 18,000 miles last summer for $38. Considering that it was one of my preferred color combinations and it was close enough to avoid shipping cost, I thought it a fair price. A little south of $40 might be a good place to start negotiations. GL with the sale.
