Valentine 1 setting - Ku band in Hong Kong??
Do any HK-based Rennlisters know whether Ku band is used in Hong Kong? I finally got around to mounting the mute switch and remote display for my V1 and my install is almost complete. I don't know whether I should be activating the Ku band function on the V1...HK is usually the same as the UK and according to the Valentine website Ku is used in some areas there.

Yes, with a few caveats. K and Ka bands there are the same as in the US, so all V1s (after a few very-early models) will work as good there as here. Ku band is found in Netherlands, Belgium and sometimes the UK (but not in the US). We've recently added Ku coverage with serial numbers ending 0600 or higher. Earlier V1s do not cover Ku.
What the Europeans call X band is sometimes different from the X band used in the US. So even the latest V1 could have this one blind spot.
Back to Ku for a moment, current-production V1s have coverage on that band installed but not "activated" as they leave the factory. For do-it-yourself instructions on activation, see www.valentine1.com/lab/mikeslabrpt3.asp elsewhere in this site."

Hello David.
I learned HK mainly use "Ka" and very few "K" band (less then 5 bird cage around N.T. area). "Ku" shouldn't be exists here... not sure, but never heard about.
Other then radar, Laser also being used actively in Highway or High speed zone.
BTW, just finish my A8 installation and got many lesson learning. Due to limited resources, it took us 2 days just for the seats installation here. Give me a call when you need to know the tricks for yours...

Thanks Rex. I've heard conflicting views as to whether I need to enable the Euro mode on the V-1 so it's a relief to know there is no Ku in Hong Kong.
Congrats on getting the A8 installed....post pics when you can...would love to see em! I've decided to keep the GT3 seats for the time being. \I'm putting the child seat up front and making my wife sit in the back...maybe when she gets tired of squeezing in back there, she'll be more supportive of me getting new seats!
