Default Repainting my Recaro PP. What color?

The backs of my pole positions are scuffed from the prior owners seat back braces so I'm going to repaint them this winter. I have no plans to race so off go the FIA sticker.

I was thinking of matching the midnight blue of my car but I'm open to suggestions of some more erm... enthusiastic colors.

Also, I'll probably getting the paint from paintscratch.com. Anyone who's done this have a recommendation for using their spray cans or just go whole hog and get a spray gun to hook up to my air compressor?

Thx
Chak

Body colour always looks good to me. What interior colour do you have?

If you know how to handle a gun then that's always the way to go for a more uniform finish IMO.

I had a black 993 RS with the Recaro seat backs painted red from the factory....I wouldn't have thought to choose this, but it did actually look very good.

Interior is classic grey so I thought a dark silver may work also. I can see red seats on a black car but I think it starts looking like '70s track suit with blue, red and gray.

With a grey interior, I think matching the exterior's blue would be the best choice. Whichever you choose, post pics of the results. I'm thinking of a pair of these seats for my 97 (along with an RS aerokit, the Speedlines from my 95, new swaybars, and some other things that will help me find the poorhouse!).

Well, I finally got around to finishing the project. I had seriously considered a candy red, but when I suggested it to my wife, the result was "Midnight Blue it is!"

Got the paint and clear coat in spray cans from Paintscratch.

I took off the leather and sanded away. They said you don't need primer but I wish I had put a coat on. Since this is my first time with a serious painting job, I found the clearcoat application the hardest to get right. It could still use plenty of sanding with 2000 grit and a real professional polish but I'm happy with the result of my efforts.

Definitely not worth my time over the money saved from taking it to a shop but hey, it's our hobby, right? Now I just need to take out the hardback sports seats (and sell) and plop these back in.

Getting the covers off was easy. Getting them back on the way they were was the harder part.

Your blue would be a standout color for the seats!

Finally getting around to puttin the seats in. Driver side it bolted directly to the rails to give me the head room I need with a helmet. The steering wheel is alcantara covered by Don Le at Dallas Steering Wheel.

Ran into one problem. I'm trying to mount the Brey-Krause R 9015 fire extinguisher mount on the passenger side between the side mount and the Recaro sliders. It interferes with the slider actuator bar though. Anyone have a solution for this? I may have to mount it to the driver's side or behind the seats instead.

Looks great. Love to see an in-the-sun shot to bring out the colour. I guess we're about to see another sports seats FS thread.
