If you could order a new 993 today...
OK, I'm bored and tired of the (now very sloppy) snow. I haven't been able to take either car out for several weeks and it's been a little slow here lately (people probably have a life LOL). I think the majority of us here bought our cars "previously owned" and was wondering how close to the "perfect" 993 your car is. My question is this; If you could walk into a Porsche dealer and order a new 993, how would it be optioned? I have trouble answering my own question and ended up having to "spec" a car for each variant!
My "ultimate, ultimate" 993? 96 RS, Turquoise Blue (non-metallic)/black, M002 (comfort model), Recaro buckets with seatbacks in exterior colour, no A/C, no airbags, manual windows, basic stereo, stainless exhaust tips, red seat belts, and a rollbar (I think this was available as a fatory fit on the comfort model). Obviously I've moved to Europe to realize this dream!
What's yours like?

A 993 GT2 in turquoise blue or riviera blue with a black interior would float my boat pretty damn well. Barring that, I have to say that racing my polar silver 993 race/street car is definitely fulfilling a dream I've had since I was about 15 years old and fantasized about buying a 934 street car from LA's Toy Store.

Tim, this is a great question. It also begs another question. Why on earth couldn't Porsche do exactly that?
Knowing how good a 993 is, I might pay 997 prices for a new one. I would love choosing colors and options. (I don't know what I would actually select.) Is there any reason why they couldn't offer a continuation 993 in the US?

WB Speedster!
Fun question, Tim.I'll jump on that cactuswagon:
Arena Red widebody 993 Speedster with marble gray (linen) interior. While I'm dreaming: turbo-charged, but keeping the stock movable spoiler, instead of a whale-tale. (The intercoolers' placement would be like a rare 993 Turbo option that Gemballa offered, where the ICs were split onto the lower sides. Similar to where 996 / 997 Turbos have them now, I believe.)
If that wasn't available... maybe an Extremo Speedster... but cactushead would call dibs on this Can-Can red interior...

Here's Butzi's custom 993 Speedster:
I mentioned the rare Gemballa Turbo option with the stealth intercoolers, I think the following photo is the general model. Turbo cab with stock, movable tail ... sweet!
I'd love to get some discussion going on this Gemballa water/air intercooler.
I don't think I've seen much mention of this on Rennlist. Anyone have experience with one of these?
More info in this link to the entire 2000 Gemballa PDF catalog. Per page 6, "500 hp BiTurbo, no rear spoiler required."

1997 Torquoise 2S, black interior, 6 sp., ABD/LSD, M030, big reds, 18" turbo wheels (unless the dealer has a set of speedlines laying around), sport seats w/painted backs, full leather, RS short shifter and RS ****, alum handbrake, motorsound, big ovals.
And I'd like to pick it up on Monday. Thank you.

C2S, Big Reds, sunroof delete, motorsound, Euro M030, Sport seats, two tone interior, 3 spoke wheel, RS short shifter, Euro trans, LSD, light or mid weight flywheel. Color combo TBD, but probably either Arena, Aventurine or Charcoal exterior and I like the darker grey color interior of the recent models. The original 993 classic grey interior is too light.

If I had the money to buy new (which I don't), I would probably end up buying a 997 or Panamera with the biggest engine I could afford and PDK. Color would be white or silver exterior and blue interior.
Bob
Options I would want on my 993: Better bolsters on the seats, seat memory, heated seats, three spoke steering wheel, techart shifter/hand brake, bat phone console, stereo/nav/bluetooth/rear view camera integrated into the console, cup holders in the original stereo hole, RS brakes, built motor with supercharger.
