Looking to replace the battery in my wife's Targa.
Considering an Odyssey 925 with Rennline kit.

Any Odyssey users here?
Advice/opinions welcome.

I went with the 925 and Rennline mount after my last battery made a big mess in my trunk. I only wish I switched over to a sealed battery sooner I've gone somewhat extended periods of time without driving the car (2 - 3 weeks) and haven't had any trouble starting up (yet ) I'm very pleased with the setup, my only after thought would've been to get the mount with a remote battery pull since I seem to be heading in a track car direction.

I purchased a Odyssey 925 about a year and half ago. It was fine at first, but after about a year, I started having issues with it not holding a charge, etc. After way too many jump starts, I went back to a conventional Interstate battery, and have had no other issues.

Also, just learned that my dim OBC light may be due to frequency of dead battery, jump starts, time on charger, etc. This was story I got from West Hollywood speedometer.

Anyway, NO MORE ODYSSEY FOR ME!

I always just get the cheapest whatever battery available that fits the car ...

It's been between 10 and 20 degrees (F) here, started up fine last week. I can't speak to the longevity since I've only had it a few months.

I was very happy initially with my 925 (that I bought used from a fellow rennlister). However, a few months ago, it started losing charge and it now needs to be replaced. I can't verify how old the battery is, but based on the PO's listing, it should be about 2 years old now. Apparently, if you buy new, there is a three-year warranty. There is a huge amount of weight savings, but it apears that longevity may be an issue.

I haven't had mine very long, but love the weight and no issues whatsoever as yet. Maybe an occasional trickle charge would be good. I never leave mine sitting as long as 2 weeks, though.

I have a 925 that works fine. My battery needed a jump a few weeks ago after I forgot to pull the battery kill switch.

I have a 925 that works fine. Like Mark, I've lost charge a time or two when I've forgotten to hit the kill switch.

FWIW, I have had an Odyssey 680 (15 lbs.) in my 2005 MINI Cooper S now for over 2years with no problems whatsoever and no trickle charger either. The car sits for prolonged periods since it's predominently my track car but has never failed to start. Granted, the loads on it are not as great as the Porsche but it is similar in that the battery is at the opposite end from the engine...However, it does sit in a nice, warm garage, never below 60 degrees F.

I have a 925 and love it for space and weight reasons. It stopped holding a charge a few weeks ago - Oddessy replaced it for free, not a pro-rata amount, but 100%. That's standing behind their product and I'll support and continue to use them.

I made my own mount:

FYI The assembly with the Rennline mount kit (with kill switch mount) weighs 26.3 lbs compared to the 37.8 lb Duralast I removed.

I would suggest getting a CTEK battery charger. It has a special setting for AGM batteries. Hopefully it will make the 925 last longer. I got mine from eBay for $65.

I have installed a bunch of these in customers 993s, as well as my own. They work GREAT for the first 12-24 months. I don't think one has lasted past the 2 year mark. Once they start needing a charge every few days, they are about done.
