Default removing washer reservoir

In preparation for my RS washer reservoir install, I've removed the stock windshield and headlight pump motors, high pressure hoses, headlight washer nozzels, and have the wires isolated and labeled in the trunk. However, I can't seam to figure out where the stock washer reservoir is secured up under the fender. Anybody care to post some instructions on how to get the stock reservoir out? Thanks.

Glen,
You are in luck... now that I have the fenders off the car, I can re-install the tanks and take some great pics....

I'll post tonight once I get home.

Glen,
I've replaced mine. Pull the left front wheel well liner halves and the reservoir will be staring you in the face. IIRC, there are one or two screws at the end (top) of the reservoir, and two screws that fasten the lowest portion of it to the frame behind the headlight. Super, super easy.

Andreas has it right. The only thing I'll add is that you'll also need to remove the hose clamp on the filler tube at the top. You do NOT need to remove the fender. Everything is accessable once you remove the wheel and full fender liner.

Before I get to the pictures though... If you plan to race in PCA stock classes, you cannot remove it... Besides, it makes a good forward ballast tank (you still have to make weight somehow)...

CRAP!!!! didn't think about that. All that work for naught. Looks like I might be selling a brand new RS reservior tank setup. How many liters is the stock reservoir (ie, how much weight can you add by filling the tank up?) Not to mention that I broke the windshield washer pump when I removed it (just my luck that it wasn't the useless headlight wash pump). Anyway, I've broken more expensive parts in my day ($26 from Pelican).

Why even run with the tank? I think in a year and a half of ownership there was only one time when I wanted to use the windshield squirters. I pulled into the next gas station and used the squeegee. I completely removed my tank and associated parts and see no need to have this system functioning. If I drove in the snow/salt/through mud bogs, it would be another story.

I guess there's a whole lot places to creatively add weight back in more advantageous places... Grassroots Motorsports had an article that featured a spec E30 build that used actual lead exercise weights to secure the spare wheel in the trunk (given the somewhat nonspecific verbage in the racing rule book). Needless to say, they changed the rules a bit for the following year.
