I would think you would get a permanent CEL...since you will effectively "clog" the air port by not pumping air through it......no?

Here are a couple of images of mine when I replaced it. You can see some of the plumbing.

EDIT: I cheated on this one. I did the SAI Roto-Rooting while the engine was out. If your engine is in - good luck!

Even vise grips won't get it off from the top. It just spins. You have to get the bottom where it's threaded into the SAI valve.

Unless your whip was originally titled in Slovenia, you've got it.

Did you have to remove anything else out of the way to get the vise grips and channel locks to fit and remove the SAI?

No, not in a 1995 OBDI. In a 1996+, you wouldn't get a CEL due to the lack of an air pump per se (since there's no fault for that), but you would get an SAI CEL since no air is getting pumped into the exhaust stream.

On a 1995, you can remove the entire SAI system and the cats too without throwing any codes. BTDT.

No real benefit; you lose a few pounds and that's about it. I chose to remove it due to space constraints.

For anyone who removes their SAI pump, remember to re-install the bolts (you may need shorter bolts, I can't recall) since the bolts that hold the SAI pump also fasten the cover on the oil galley. Things will get very very messy if you forget.

My wires are fine. No dust, whatsoever.

Eric,
I presume the air 'manifold' can go as well - is it just bolted to the case, or do the bolts need reinstallation?

This mod would compliment the RS Heater Tube mod nicely.
