For the same money you can get an aluminum jack from Harbor Freight. I've had mine for about 4-5 seasons, lift the car at least twice a weekend in the spring, summer and fall and it's still working fine.
There are two kinds, larger heavier one and smaller lighter one. I have a smaller one. It'll be fine for 993 as well.

Careful with the aluminum jacks from HF. They only have a 90 day warranty.... Maybe it doesnt matter but plenty of other choices with much better warranties! On the old school steel ones like you listed, it will probably be fine, with the new aluminum ones, the pistons seem more temperamental (and junkier)!

Weight was the biggest consideration to me, followed by price. When you dragging teh jack with you in the trunk to every even and use it there to mount and dismount race tires... weight is the only thing that really matters. My Orthoflex is more expensive than my jack ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Warranty... I personally would not care much about unless you are buying from Sears. I don't think any of us would send a $80 jack out for warranty and pay fro replacement shipping, no?

Good points Mike. I just think that HF has a weak warranty on their jacks regardless of price. Although I couldnt see myself mailing one of these off, I certainly would want to return it to the store!

I went with the larger Harbor Freight aluminum jack. It has dual pistons for quicker lifting and I think it goes as low as 4 inches. It's light enough to actually pick up up. I replaced a Sears jack that puked after 3 uses. I too was a littl concerned about the short warranty on the HF jack, but it is working well.

TJ, if you have an HF store nearby, it makes it all that much easier. When I was buying mine mail order, I reasoned with myself that if it lasts me a couple of years, great, I can buy another one then. It lasted longer, which is good. For some reason I think I paid only $60 for mine, although it might have been $80. They run sales often in the winter.
BTW, I also use a $20 torque wrench from HF. Good enough for lug nuts for the money. That's to James if he decides to order from HF and needs a torque wrench.

I have the big aluminum jack from Costco. It fits under the engine of my low car and has been working flawlessly for almost 2 years.

I find that those Torin aluminum jacks are great for dealing with wheels and tires, but don't get the car high enough for the ESCO jack stands and any real under body work. They are also available at Pep boys and are great for light duty, portable use.
I bought a 3.5 Torin jack from Pepboys recently and use it on my Range Rover and Pcar. Wouldn't want to have to take it anywhere as it is very heavy. But, so far, it works well and can jack the car up 22-24 inches. It is very low too, so getting it under my lowered car has not been an issue.
