Default Heater & blower

Since a week I'm having a problem with the blower for the air.

It's blows really soft no matter if i change the position on the unit (1,2,3 or 4 is the same??)
The button for the strong blower for the window also doesn't work anymore?

Is it a fuse or something??

Thanks for the help

I think the fan speed controller (1,2,3,4) just controls the blowers up in the front of the car behind the pollen filters, and the heater blower in the back always runs at the same speed. Try turning the temperature dial to full AC which should shut off the flaps that allow the heated air from the rear blower into the mixing chamber, or try something else that is controlled by the unit to see if any signals are coming out of the unit.

I have the same issue; my engine blower appears to have melted the fuse box in the engine compartment, so I'm assuming it's seized up.

If you get full cabin fans with the temperature turned all the way to cold, but it backs down when you turn the temperature higher, it's the CCU not seeing what it wants from the engine blower motor.

Check the recent RS bypass thread for more info.

I had a problem with the fan speed fluctuating. I removed the CCU and cleaned the switches after doing some disassembly, and the problem is cured. You may be able to get the same results just by removing the CCU and flushing the switches thoroughly with electrical contact cleaner (be sure to choose one that is safe for plastics).

This is also a good time to clean the little fan on the back of the CCU.

It's in the dashboard next to the radio ;-)

It's what all the controls are on.

You don't need a special tool. Just insert a nail of suitable size into each of the four holes at the corners of the Climate Control Unit (CCU), push the nails in to release the locks, reach under the dash, and push the CCU out from the rear. There are two large wiring connectors to the CCU. Each has a hook at one end and a latch at the other. Release the latch and rotate the connector away from the CCU to undo the hook. The latch/hook on these connectors are on opposite ends to each other.

IIRC, there is also a wiring connector for the little fan on the back of the CCU.

Click on this link, scroll down about a third of the way into the article, and you will find a couple of pictures of the CCU removal: http://www.pcarworkshop.com/index.ph...orator_Replace

I had a similar problem. When I turned the temperature control **** all the way to cold, the cabin fans operated properly. For other temperature settings, the cabin fans were really weak, no matter what the fan speed setting.

The solution was replacing the fuse for the heater blower. The fuse is in the box on the left (driver) side of the engine compartment.

With the fuse ok, the cabin fans work well no matter the temp setting. So the CCU prevents the cabin fans running if the heater blower's not working. I'm actually curious how the CCU knows the status of the blower motor. Anyone know? Is there a current sense resistor?
