Default Just hit a deer

Friggin' pissing me off so much right now. All my neighbors are up in arms because the city I live in has allowed bow hunting to try and knock back the deer population. Deer are everywhere. Was cruising down the street a couple minutes from my house, doing about 20 mpg and bam, one runs right in to the car trying to get across the street. Looks like a new left front bumper for me...

Sorry to hear that Ron. In my college days, a deer (a big one) actually hit ME in my E21 323 and completely trashed the side of my car. I had to get the driver side rear tire dismounted to get all the fur out of the tire bead.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I live in an somewhat rural area that is inundated with them and city ordinances do not allow any form of hunting. Go hunting two miles out of the city and one never sees them. I hit one, and was hit by two others in one month. Thankfully, I was in the Pathfinder on all occasions, not the Porsche. I don't drive the p-car at night in the winter because of the local deer population.

I hope the damage is covered by insurance. Was it time for a front end respray anyway?

Thanks guys, I was going pretty slow, and I guess he was too. Didn't do anything to the front bumper just the left front fender, and knocked the drivers side rear view mirror back.

Yeah, I'd probably not post that on a public forum...

Sorry to hear about it. Doesn't sound too bad and could have been worse. Hope it all works out.

Deer are everywhere here as well. Glad it wasn't worse.

A near miss with a deer last year caused me to hang up my helmet and trade in my motorcycle, after 40 years of riding.

The upside is that it got me into driving a 993, which is pretty good withdrawal therapy, and more comfortable in the rain than my BMW RS.

I did the same with my motorcycle and don't regret it.
Does anyone know how truly effective the Deer Alert is?

Rinty,

I was thinking the same thing. It would have REALLY hurt if I had been on my motorcycle. Actually, I haven't ridden in about 3 years and I'm pretty sure I'm just going to sell my bike.

Anyway, just took the car for a drive and there's nothing messed up with the steering. The damage could have been much worse, small paint chip out of front bumper, one large dent in the front fender, and a small one on the lip of the wheel well. Gonna cost me 500 bones for my deductible though...

Compared to Thaddeus, this was a mere love tap.
