Default OT: SF Int'l Auto Show - What a letdown!

So I took my wife and son to the big San Francisco Int'l Auto Show today at Moscone Convention Center. I was excited to see all the 2009 makes and models, but of course, the main reason for going was to see all the latest Porsche models. Guess what, the only major manufacturer with a pathetic display was Porsche. It's like Porsche North America was not even involved with the show. There were just a few cars from a local dealership, it was unbelievable! Every other German car (Mercedes, Audi, VW, BMW) had major displays that were obviously supported by the factory, with factory reps and display girls, etc. What gives PCNA??? Going to my local dealer would have been 10x more exciting. Sorry for the rant, but be ready for dissapointment if you are going for Porsche reasons

Nothing against Carlsen Porsche (local dealer), it was just depressing that factory Porsche was not there. I made the mistake of walking through the VW and Audi areas first. They were huge with tons of cars and displays of technology. I was excited to get to the Porsche area

Hey Alvin, I wish I would have known that, I didn't see the Topline exhibit. I stayed on the first floor since that's where all the manufacturers were.

Ferrari was pretty sad also, but Land Rover and Nissan were really nice. Of course Toyota, Ford, Chevy were huge. But again, the other German manufacturers had large, nice displays with obvious factory support. There was no Carrera S, 4S, Targa of any kind, GT2, GT3, GT3RS, Cayman, Cayman S, etc!! I kept looking for the 'real' Porsche display From what I remember, they had a Turbo Cabriolet, a Boxster and a Cayenne GTS! They also had a 2004 Carrera GT on display, but roped off. Yes, that is great eye candy, but honestly, I am not a potential customer. I was hoping to see a lot more of the current line, and maybe some cool cutaways of engines, chassis, etc.

The irony of Porsche pulling out is that they are one of the very few car companies making any money these days - of course most of it isn't from selling cars.

Exactly.....that is why I was expecting something fairly impressive from them. I guess they spent all the money on VW, now that was a great setup!

L.A. Autoshow wasn't all that either...
Porsche didn't show GT2 or GT3, BMW stand missing M5 & M6!!!,Audi didn't bring any ALMS TDI R8.
Come to think of it, only highlight was that MB SL Black series!!!!
DANG! I want that car...

Be thankful it wasn't like last year where about 1/2 the display was devoted to the Cayenne hybrid cutaway............. Next year it will probably only be 4 doors, of the sedan and truck variety?

You should have come to Nashville's auto show. I think it is much easier to list the manufacturers that weren't there, namely Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Lexus, VW, etc. In fact, the only exciting things I saw were the ZR1, the GTR and a F430 that was randomly displayed.

Porsche hasn't been at the St. Louis Int'l Auto Show for close to 10 years. The St. Louis show has been a joke for years, but yet, I keep going...

Default Boston

Went to Boston Auto Show today. Porsche was tucked in the corner with a few Cayennes, the regular run of 911's, but nothing of interest. Where are all the GT cars?? Even the free poster was a cayman (which was not on display). No Boxter either???????????????//
