Hmm. But, in theory, this should keep the outside air from mixing. Right?

Regardless, you've made headway.

In theory, yes -- but because the CCU isn't getting a signal from the rear blower, many of the normal ways the HVAC system is supposed to work don't apply. I suspect this is one of them. I could find zero difference in cabin temps between using the recirc button or not...

I live in LA and have a lightweight car, but I optioned to keep the heater blower motor connected...use every morning when its cool...windshield defroster works as well....I'd rather be warm and be able to see and deal w/the 9lbs......

LOL, you really have nothing to worry about...the only time the RS tube failed me was going 80 MPH in 14-degree weather. I think you'd do just fine with the RS tube when it's 55 out and you're going 8 MPH on the 405!

Noah - did you put in the big resistor that simulates the motor for the ccu and the small resistor that sets the temp in the tube to fool the ccu?

No, I used tape.

The article that contains that advice, BTW, is for 964's -- totally irrelevant to 993's, unfortunately.

I think the cool down lap barely makes a dent in cooling the motor down. It is even worse if you are coming in off of a hot lap to take hot tire pressures and tread temps. I agree, though, that I wonder how much benefit is being added by cooling down the motor when it's not running. Empirical data is definitely needed. Maybe it's good enough that the factory has this feature as part of the car's design.

I dig.

But the thing is, the RS tube was used on, well, the RS models -- which were factory-designed for the track. The RSR's didn't even have one. If that rear blower is so important for cooling the motor, why wasn't it used on the factory track cars? What I'm getting at is...this is something I lose zero sleep over.

BTW, I think you did well on your used Sabelts. I need to sell mine soon.
