I had a Cayman S (6 speed) as a loaner. Felt tight. Planted like a race car.
But, it also felt very cramped inside, even compared to the 993.
And, somehow the car felt "disposable." This may be because there are so many on the lot at deep discounts. Or, because the styling strikes me as very trendy.

Agree totally. I had an 03 Boxster S before the 993, and the styling started to look a little dated after a couple years. The Cayman won't be a car I would keep for very long if I ever get one.

Cayman S is my occasional daily driver...in every way it's an easier car to drive fast and it's a blast at the track. That said, the 993 still makes the experience of driving a little more 'alive' for me though. If you're thinking of getting a Cayman for a second P-car...it's a nice compliment to the 993 and in this economy, I imagine it won't be long before they are a great value.

I was watching an old Top Gear and Jeremy and the boyz were ripping the design of the Cayman. I don't think it's perfect, and I think Boxster looks better, but I was a little surprised at how they felt it was so "obviously" ugly.
I don't watch that show enough to know if ripping Porsches is like their running joke. I do know that they splooge themselves over obscure or English cars.

More reason to wait and get a used one then... of course it will have that dated look by the time they are a bargain!

I was at a PCNA party last night for the LA Autoshow. It introduced the new CaymanS. It looks like a superior Daily driver. Wifey wants one to go along with the 993.
