+1. Same with rain gutters. These things don't offend me...I'm not feelin' it. I will remove bumperettes and other US-only B.S. But first, two dumb questions:

1) How do you make the washers work? Lights on, hit windshield washer?

2) That said, if you do take 'em out, do you have to plug and clamp the lines for fear of squirting washer fluid somewhere aft of the front bumper? I like all the loose ends tied up (whoa..apt expression!)

If you've got HIDs or intending to retrofit them, you really need the washers. The HID light pattern is dispersed and becomes ineffective significantly quicker than standard lamps with dirt on the lens.

EU directives require washers if you have Litronics (HID) otherwise i would have gone for a delete.

Pull stem for windshield washer, push for headlights. Says so in the owners manual! I understand it creates an interesting light show the first time you use it at night with the lights on.

+1, I knew that was coming..

So now the question is (for us ROW people):

-HIDs and f-ugly headlight washers

or

-Crappy halogens and front fenders "Brazilian Style"????

I'm with the 'Brazilian' brigade, having had the headlight washer nozzles filled (metal) and switched to a Euro Turbo bumper cover also. Smooth is good - and surely the reduced drag must improve fuel consumption considerably, too!

#1 - yes
#2 - pic is shot through the left headlight slot: pull the connector off the pump on the right and plug the pump discharge ( 2" cut off of the same hose with a bolt in one end) .... should do the trick.

PS - Don't let Andreas see that pic - I haven't dusted the insides of my fenders yet

Hummm - shop wants 4 hours additional to weld & fill the headlight jet holes, plus I may lose my time slot in the paint booth: snow forcast tonight, so body shops must be slapping hands in glee for the onslaught of fender dingers ..... for they do better $$$$ on insurance claims than on me

We'll see - at least, the 'zits' are only slightly visible against very dark blue - which is the rational to keep the bumperettes

Thanks for looking that up for us. Honestly, I've had the car for the last seven years and never once used the headlight washers--never even bothered to learn how to turn 'em on. Stll and all, I might give them a try--just to see if they work.

I had never used them either and one day I decided to make them squirk just for fun.....pushed and pushed...no squirt.

If I remember correctly, the headlights have to be turned on before they squirt

Duh.....

The jets don't bother me nearly as much as the bumperettes. I would lose the bumperettes and leave the headlight squirters. As someone earlier said, I'm for making my 993 as close as possible to it's cousins in the motherland by losing the U.S. only crap.

Not only did I remove the headlight nozzles I also removed the tank from under the front left fender. I never use the washers on the windshield.
