Default Hoping the third time's a charm: WTB 993...

I've been looking for a 993 for a few months now and thought I found what I was looking for a couple of weeks back when I came across a '97 polar silver/black in SoCal. Thanks to a thorough PPI at Hergesheimer's (kudos to Laura and Co.), some issues were uncovered and I decided to pass. Strike 1.

A seller on the east coast had noticed my WTB ad on Pelican Parts and contacted me about his '96 polar silver/black car and he convinced me that a long-distance, sight-unseen deal could work out. So I had a couple of kind Rennlisters (thanks Harvey and Jeff!) check the car out and they gave it two thumbs up. I sent the car in for a PPI to Eurowerks (great guys, highly recommended!) and the car got a clean bill of health. Just as we were about to seal the deal, the seller got 'Seller's Remorse' and decided to keep the car. Strike 2!

So, I'm going to try this one more time before I consider throwing in the towel:

I'm looking to buy a 993 C2 coupe, preferably a '96+ with 50K miles or so on the clock in the mid-$30K-ish price range. I'm looking for something in excellent condition (who isn't?) with minimal interior wear. I've looked at enough of these to know that there's almost always some wear on the driver's side bolster, and often around the dead pedal, so as long as it's pretty minor then that's not a show-stopper.

The paint should be in excellent condition and original. If there are some repainted panels, then please let me know that and the reason for it. Some of the usual road rash on the nose is expected, of course.

The car should have most, if not all, service records/receipts.

The car should have a clean CarFax.

Color preferences are polar or arctic silver/black, guards red/black or cashmere, white/black, midnight or ocean blue/cashmere, and possibly others with a strong preference towards silver/black.

Ideally the car will be somewhere in California as I just got through with a failed long-distance deal and it was a ton of work and ended up going bust, so I'd rather not start that again if possible. But if your car meets all of the other criteria then let me know and we can discuss it.

If you've got a car that you think might fit the bill, then please PM me.

Are you a PCA member? If not, I can do a quick sort of their listings and see if there is anything that may interest you.... At the mid $30k price range, you shouldn't have much of a problem finding something really nice...

If white/grey would be a possibility for you, I would give this car serious thought. Like I said in the original thread, we've had the engine and trans out of this car before for a LWF install / major service and find this California only car to be very nice, original (with the exception of the clutch), and unmolested example.

Thanks for the links, there are a couple on there I wasn't aware of. And yes, I am a PCA member and have been looking at The Mart regularly.
