Secondary Air Injection pump noise?

What I earlier described as a "squeal" is more like a "bzzzzt" noise, when the engine is started cold, just for a second or so, and just as the engine fires up. Is this a normal SAI pump noise? Is the pump electrical? My car is a 95, so no evil SAI fault codes...

I just replaced the alternator, so I'm overly sensitive to engine noises.

Since you just replaced the alternator...it's not belt slippage squeal is it?

The air pump comes on several seconds after starting and stays on for a minute or so. At least that's what I've leared from other threads here:
